According to the approved plan, in the 2024-2025 period, Van Lang district will pilot the construction of two bridges (one bridge built each year). To date, the District People's Committee has completed and put into use one bridge, and another is currently under construction.
The Ta Phang bridge project in Tien Phong village, Thanh Hoa commune, Van Lang district, is a highly important connectivity project for the particularly disadvantaged Thanh Hoa commune, benefiting approximately 200 households. According to the design, the project has two concrete abutments, a bridge deck width of 4 meters, a length of 16 meters, and a total investment of nearly 1.4 billion VND, of which the construction cost is over 1 billion VND. The investor is the Van Lang District Investment and Construction Project Management Board.
Mr. Chu The Chung, Deputy Director of the Investment and Construction Project Management Board of Van Lang District, said: Due to the project being implemented in a remote area with complex transportation conditions, the small scale of the project, limited funding, and the sharp increase in the price of materials, selecting contractors and organizing construction faced many difficulties. However, with the close guidance of the District People's Committee and the shared responsibility of the contractor, the project has been implemented according to the plan.
According to our findings, construction began on November 28, 2024, and was scheduled for completion on May 28, 2025. However, thanks to the concentrated resources, equipment, and effective construction solutions, the contractor completed the project nearly two months ahead of schedule. The completed project has fulfilled the expectations of the people of Tien Phong village.
Mr. Luong Lieu Phi, a resident of Tien Phong village, shared: "The Ta Phang bridge project is located in a remote and difficult area. Its completion has helped connect traffic between four villages in the commune and one village in a neighboring commune. Previously, without a solid bridge, the Ta Phang bridge site only had a temporary circular culvert and gravel surface, making travel very difficult and unsafe for the people, especially during the rainy season."
Immediately after the Ta Phang bridge project was in its final stages of completion, the People's Committee of Van Lang district directed the District Investment and Construction Project Management Board to urgently complete the investment procedures for the Na Muoi bridge project in Hoi Hoan commune. By early June 2025, the legal procedures had been completed by the investor, and the construction contract was signed, and construction commenced. According to the approved decision, the project has a scale of 2 reinforced concrete abutments, a bridge length of 14 m, a bridge deck width of 5 m, and a total investment of over 1.14 billion VND, of which the construction value is over 900 million VND.
To date, the construction unit has carried out on-site tasks such as establishing access roads, stockpiling materials, and diverting the water flow for the construction of the foundation.
Ms. Hua Thi Quyen, Director of Lang Son Road and Bridge Joint Stock Company, the unit responsible for the construction of the project, said: During the construction process, despite continuous rain, the unit overcame all difficulties, proactively gathered materials and equipment at the construction site in advance, so that when the weather was favorable, they organized overtime shifts to accelerate the construction of the abutments and foundations, ensuring safety and striving to exceed the set schedule.
Reportedly, to date, the value of work completed on the Na Muoi bridge project in Hoi Hoan commune, including the stockpiling of materials for construction of various items and tasks, is estimated to reach 25% of the plan.
Regarding the allocation of funds for the project, Mr. Vu Van Nhien, Chairman of the District People's Committee, said: According to the plan, the most difficult challenge is mobilizing socialized capital according to the formula: the provincial budget covers 30%, the district budget covers 30%, and socialized capital accounts for 40% of the planned capital for construction. Funding from the two levels of government budgets has been allocated, while the district is still working to secure socialized capital. To date, the district has mobilized approximately 18% of the planned capital through socialized funding, and several philanthropists have pledged to support the district with funding to accelerate construction progress and complete the project before September 30, 2025, to celebrate the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term.
Mr. Hoang Viet Dong, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction, assessed: Among the districts implementing Resolution 28 of the Provincial People's Council, as of the end of June 2025, Van Lang is the most exemplary unit in organizing the pilot implementation of bridge construction projects planned for 2024-2025 in the province.
Constructing rural traffic bridges according to the provincial People's Council's plan is an important task for local authorities. Although the implementation of these projects faced many significant challenges due to the remote and difficult locations and limited resources, the determination of the Party committee and government of Van Lang district has resulted in substantial benefits, contributing to the transformation of rural areas and improving the quality of life for the people.
