Yunnan opens a 'green corridor' for importing lychees from Bac Ninh.

The Ha Khau border gate has opened a "green corridor" for the rapid customs clearance of agricultural products and food between Vietnam and China.

According to Ms. Pu Cuc Ny, Executive Vice Chairperson of the International Trade Promotion Council of Hekou County, Yunnan Province, China, lychee has long been a "sweet thread" connecting friendship and an "important bridge" promoting cooperation between the two localities.

The Ha Khau border gate has opened a "green corridor" for the rapid customs clearance of agricultural products and food between Vietnam and China, innovatively applying the "Green Corridor Time +" model for quick inspection and clearance. Priority is given to the inspection and rapid clearance of fresh agricultural products, ensuring that lychees and other seasonal fruits can enter the Chinese market as quickly as possible.

"We are ready to continue strengthening coordination with the Vietnamese side, further improving customs clearance efficiency and quarantine credibility for lychees and other agricultural products," Ms. Pho said.

Ms. Pho's statement was made at the Conference on Promoting the Consumption of Lychee and Key Agricultural Products, Characteristic Products, and OCOP Products of Bac Ninh Province in 2026, held at the Bac Ninh Provincial Conference Center on May 28th.

The International Trade Promotion Council of Hekou County, Yunnan Province, China, recognizes Bac Ninh Province as one of Vietnam's key agricultural production regions, with a long history of lychee cultivation and superior lychee fruit quality, making it one of the core areas for high-quality Vietnamese lychees.

Ha Khau, as the largest land border crossing in Yunnan province on the Vietnam-China border, has always been an important gateway for Vietnamese lychees to enter the Chinese market.

Ha Khau and Bac Ninh have strong economic and trade complementarity and high compatibility for cooperation. Lychee has long been a "sweet thread" connecting friendship and an "important bridge" promoting cooperation between the two localities.

Ha Khau and Bac Ninh share cultural similarities, have close economic and trade relations, and possess a high degree of compatibility for cooperation.

In 2025, a delegation from Ha Khau district visited Bac Ninh province, where the two sides held extensive discussions and reached comprehensive consensus in areas such as industrial park development, the electronics industry, and agricultural trade.

"We are pleased to see that cooperation between the two localities in the field of lychee trade and other agricultural products is constantly expanding and the scale of trade is increasing," Ms. Pho said.

The International Trade Promotion Committee of Hekou County, Yunnan Province, China, put forward several proposals to enhance trade promotion. Specifically, they suggested further improving the facilitation of customs clearance procedures. In addition, Ms. Pu expressed her desire to promote comprehensive cooperation throughout the lychee industry chain.

"We aspire to expand cooperation with Bac Ninh province in areas such as cultivation techniques, fresh preservation, processing, cold chain logistics, and brand building for lychees. We support more Chinese businesses and traders in establishing stable, long-term cooperative relationships with lychee growers and cooperatives in Bac Ninh province, jointly enhancing the added value and competitiveness of Bac Ninh lychee products," Ms. Pho said.

The next proposal is to expand cooperation in cultural exchange and agricultural tourism. During the 2026 lychee season, Bac Ninh province has selected 36 high-quality lychee orchards to develop agricultural tourism experiences, creating tourism routes connecting the orchards with historical sites and traditional craft villages.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the International Trade Promotion Council of Hekou County, Yunnan Province, China, stated: "We welcome more friends from Bac Ninh to visit, survey, and cooperate in Hekou as well as other localities in China. We are also ready to organize tours for Chinese tourists to Bac Ninh to experience picking lychees themselves, feel the culture of Vietnamese villages, and make the Lychee Festival an important platform for Vietnam-China cultural exchange."
