VFF makes decision, Cong Phuong has a bright chance to return to V.League

On July 24, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) officially announced the decision that Quang Nam Club will not participate in V.League 2025/26.

Accordingly, the VFF Executive Committee unanimously chose the option of adding a replacement team to Quang Nam , based on the proposal of the General Secretariat on July 22. Three clubs eligible for licensing to participate in V.League 2025/26 include Binh Dinh, Binh Phuoc and PVF-CAND. Among them, Binh Phuoc, the runner-up of the 2024/25 First Division, is the most promising candidate.

Previously, on July 21, Quang Nam confirmed the merger with Da Nang . All players, coaches, office staff and youth players will transfer to the Han River team. Da Nang will then carry out a comprehensive restructuring, aiming for the new season with the goal of stability and development.

The Quang Nam football team's leadership has made efforts to retain the professional team. Some businesses have agreed to support, but they do not have enough financial capacity to maintain the team's operating costs, estimated at more than 100 billion VND per season. On the afternoon of July 23, the Quang Nam Football Development Joint Stock Company sent a letter requesting VPF to facilitate the search for additional sponsors.

VFF and VPF also actively supported, hoping that the Quang Nam team would continue playing, avoiding affecting the issued match schedule. However, by the deadline of 5pm on July 24, no additional sponsors appeared, forcing VFF to officially remove Quang Nam from the team and deploy an alternative plan. This also means that Cong Phuong and Binh Phuoc are facing a great opportunity to return to V.League next season.
