[Video] Be careful with the trend of turning portrait photos into 3D figure models

In recent days, the Gen Z community has been buzzing about the trend of turning portrait photos into 1/7 scale figures using AI.

Just go to Gemini or similar platforms, upload a clear photo and enter the modeling prompt, the system will return the real product: the figure standing on a transparent mica base, next to a screen showing the 3D modeling process, with a BANDAI-style figure box.

This trend hits the psychology of young people who like to be different, unique and "catch the trend" quickly. Showing off the finished product on Facebook, TikTok or Instagram brings a "magical" effect, easily attracting thousands of likes.

But few people realize that in order to have a beautiful product, users have provided the most sensitive personal data: their face. This is not just an innocuous photo, but also contains biometric information - which is widely used to unlock phones, authenticate bank accounts, and access public administrative systems. Once this data is collected or leaked, the consequences will be not simple.

Experts warn that human faces are the digital “key”. Hackers can use photos to create deepfakes, fooling facial recognition systems. Just one high-quality portrait photo is enough to create a complete fake profile, opening up the risk of sophisticated fraud.

Many AI platforms require users to agree to store, use, and even redistribute uploaded images. Most Gen Zers often skip the terms and quickly click “accept” to quickly experience. As a result, personal photos can be stored indefinitely, used to train AI, or exploited for commercial purposes - without the user knowing.

To be safe, users need to be more alert before entering. Some basic principles:

- First, avoid using sensitive photos: Do not upload ID photos, documents, or photos with too high resolution.

- Second, read the terms carefully: See if the platform commits to deleting data.

- Third, limit public sharing: If you post a figure, do not include the original photo or personal information.

- Fourth, choose a reputable platform: Prioritize services with transparent security policies that are highly appreciated by the technology community.

- Fifth, monitor your account: If you suspect data has been leaked, change your password, enable two-factor authentication, and monitor for unusual activity.

Trend AI turns portraits into 3D figures, bringing newness and satisfying the creative joy of young people. But that joy is only complete when experienced intelligently, safely, and personal data is well controlled. Participating in new technology application trends is not a blameworthy thing, but smart users need to remember: Safety is always your friend.
