[Video] Sharply reduce the number of focal points, restructure public universities

Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that about 140 public universities will be reorganized, merged, or even dissolved if they are too small and do not meet standards.

This is one of the key tasks set out in Resolution 71 of the Politburo , aiming to modernize the university education system and create a breakthrough in the quality of training high-quality human resources.

According to the plan, schools under central management, managed by ministries and branches, can be transferred to local areas; local schools will be merged with central schools or with each other.

The aim of the reorganization is to overcome fragmentation and dispersion, enhance competitiveness, and create strong, internationally prestigious universities. The Ministry will have detailed scenarios for each school, including personnel plans.
