The Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and the Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS) are both members of the World Association of Academies of Sciences. The two Academies have had independent cooperation with a number of common partners such as the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Belarusian National Academy of Sciences, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Czech Academy of Sciences, etc.
Recently, a number of units under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Mongolian Academy of Sciences have implemented cooperation in the fields of pharmaceutical chemistry, geography, geoecology, museum activities, conservation, etc.
On this basis, the Cooperation Agreement aims to establish an official partnership between two leading research units of each country, creating a legal basis for implementing joint research and training activities in the fields of science and technology of each side's strengths as well as areas of mutual interest.

Immediately after the Agreement was signed, the two Academies held a bilateral meeting at the headquarters of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences to exchange and discuss specific cooperation activities.
The Presidents of the two Academies agreed to continue to support existing cooperation between their affiliated units in the fields of chemistry of natural products, biodiversity research and conservation; in addition, they will promote cooperation in scientific fields of current interest such as data science, information technology and artificial intelligence.
In particular, the coordination of training and exchange of lecturers and students will be promoted in the coming time, when the Mongolian Academy of Sciences successfully establishes the Mongolian University of Sciences (UMS), with an organizational structure and operations that have many similarities with the Academy of Science and Technology under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
In addition, the Mongolian Academy of Sciences also shared some results of cooperation between the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Chemistry of Natural Compounds of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, the main research directions in the fields of biology and chemistry; and introduced the collection of animals and insects of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences as well as the project of a scientific research facility that will be put into operation in early 2025.
With the honor of officially establishing a cooperative relationship in the presence of the leaders of Vietnam and Mongolia, the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology believes that the two Academies will effectively coordinate to implement the cooperation contents, contributing to promoting the friendly relations between the two countries; at the same time, demonstrating the activeness and responsibility of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology in promoting connections between member organizations of the Association of World Academies of Sciences as mentioned at recent meetings of the Association.
The Mongolian Academy of Sciences, founded in 1961, is Mongolia's leading scientific research organization, responsible for developing and coordinating domestic scientific research activities, as well as international cooperation in science and technology.
The main tasks of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences are: To conduct and coordinate scientific research in various fields of natural sciences and technology, social sciences and humanities; to advise the Government of Mongolia in developing science, technology and innovation policies; to train and develop human resources in science and technology; to develop and promote national and international research programs; to promote cooperation between national and international research institutes, industrial organizations and enterprises.
