This activity is within the framework of the project "Enhancing skills and employment opportunities for young people to contribute to improving capacity for safe international integration in the period 2023-2025".

According to data from the General Department of Vocational Education , the country still has 37.8 million untrained workers. Meanwhile, the Government's target by 2030 is for the rate of trained workers with degrees and certificates to reach 35-40%.

This figure shows a significant challenge in improving the technical expertise of workers. Many industries and sectors still do not have a set of measurement tools or a system for surveying, evaluating, and granting vocational skills certificates.

Nghe An is the largest locality in the country, with the fourth largest population in the country, with more than 3.4 million people. As of the first 6 months of 2024, the working-age population was more than 2.2 million people, accounting for 65% of the total population.

The whole province currently has more than 700,000 union members and young people, however the rate of young people with jobs and stable jobs is only about 60%.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thuy - Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, President of the Vietnam Youth Union of Nghe An province - said that every year Nghe An province has about 60,000-70,000 workers in need of jobs.

Nghe An is in the "golden population" period, this is an advantage of abundant labor resources for the economic and social development of the province, with a structure divided into young age groups, favorable for improving the technical expertise of workers.

“However, the province is still facing many difficulties, with a low labor force, mainly untrained workers, accounting for nearly 80%. This is a barrier to entering the high-quality labor market during a period when the province is accelerating the industrialization process,” said Ms. Thuy.

In recent times, job fairs and career counseling activities organized by Nghe An Youth Union at all levels have attracted more than 200,000 youth union members to participate; creating conditions for 10,080 young people to find jobs at home and abroad.

Highly appreciating the project theme “Enhancing skills and employment opportunities for young people to contribute to improving international integration capacity”, Ms. Thuy said that skills are the key factor, the advantage that helps young people in particular and workers in general increase their ability to compete for jobs.

“Equipping young people with the skills and opportunities to proactively enter the labor market, start a business and develop their careers, contributing to a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable future,” Ms. Thuy emphasized.

The 2024 Youth Job Fair gathered businesses to recruit at 30 booths with more than 500 job, study abroad and vocational training positions requiring university and college degrees and nearly 2,500 positions for unskilled workers with recruitment positions.
