Vietnam - Kazakhstan cooperate to develop Vietnam International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City

This is an activity within the framework of the visit and working session of the Delegation of Governors of the Astana Financial Center ( AIFC) , Kazakhstan in Ho Chi Minh City from July 12 to 16.

Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, emphasized that this activity is a clear demonstration of the friendship and cooperation that is constantly expanding between Ho Chi Minh City and AIFC in particular and Kazakhstan in general, especially in the financial sector. Through this, the parties exchanged and connected their visions, aiming to deepen cooperation and achieve practical results.

According to Mr. Ha, Ho Chi Minh City is currently entering the acceleration phase of building an international financial center according to Resolution No. 222/2025/QH15 of the National Assembly, which officially takes effect on September 1, 2025.

Vietnam International Financial Center located in Ho Chi Minh City has a separate product development orientation, promoting the City's strengths and aiming to become one of the international financial centers, raising Vietnam's position in the global financial network.

“Through this event, Ho Chi Minh City hopes to listen, exchange and learn valuable experiences from AIFC and Kazakhstan to realize the vision of Vietnam International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City in the coming time,” the Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee shared.

On the Kazakhstan side, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Vietnam, Mr. Kanat Tumysh, affirmed that this event is an important day in the history of bilateral relations, and is direct evidence that high-level visits have created more momentum for the development of bilateral and multilateral relations between the two countries.

In the economic field, Mr. Kanat Tumysh said that two-way trade turnover has reached nearly 1 billion USD in 2024 and 357 million USD in the first 5 months of 2025. He believes that the potential for cooperation is still very large and two-way trade can completely surpass the milestone set by the two countries' senior leaders next year.

In order to strengthen economic cooperation mechanisms, he introduced the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC) located in the capital of Kazakhstan. This is a leading financial center in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, attracting more than 16.9 billion USD in investment capital, creating nearly 10,000 jobs and being home to more than 4,000 companies from 80 countries.

Mr. Kanat Tumysh emphasized that the two governments are working towards the implementation of the agreements set forth by their leaders, one of which is expanding cooperation with AIFC. To realize these agreements, the two sides are carrying out the signing of important documents, including the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between AIFC and the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

“The Embassy of Kazakhstan will fully support the joint initiatives between AIFC and Vietnamese partners, and believes that the joint efforts will bring fruitful cooperation results for both sides,” Mr. Kanat Tumysh shared.
