Data from more than 10,078 employers across seven countries and territories in the Asia- Pacific (APAC) region shows growing confidence in the region’s labour market as businesses look to expand and invest in talent.
Mr. François Lançon, President of Asia- Pacific and Middle East, ManpowerGroup, assessed that this is a positive signal for the labor market. “The increasing recruitment trend in the Asia-Pacific region is a positive signal for the market. The recruitment demand of businesses increased compared to the previous quarter, reflecting the level of adaptation and focus on growth of the region,” said Mr. François Lançon.
In addition to job prospects, the Asia-Pacific report also sheds light on the main reasons why businesses are hiring more staff. 42% of employers in the region said that company expansion was the top reason for their hiring increase. Other reasons included new projects requiring more staff (33%), or technological developments requiring more expertise (31%).
Indeed, businesses across Asia-Pacific are proactively building the workforce they need for long-term growth and innovation. Initiatives such as China’s AI development investment fund, funding for the Hong Kong AI Research and Development Institute, and the Singapore government ’s support package for businesses to adopt cloud computing are driving demand for skilled workers, especially in technology and AI.
These efforts demonstrate the region’s determination to move towards technological leadership despite economic challenges, reinforcing Asia-Pacific’s position as a region of strong resilience and opportunity.
In the Vietnamese market, experts from ManpowerGroup Vietnam (a leading comprehensive human resource solutions provider including executive recruitment services, outsourcing and multinational labor leasing in Vietnam) assessed that recruitment demand will increase in many industries in the second quarter of 2025, typically the manufacturing sector.
Ms. Vo Thi Bich Thuy, Director of Senior Recruitment Services in the South, ManpowerGroup Vietnam shared: “Since the beginning of the year, we have received the most recruitment requests for qualified workers in the industrial and materials sector – including manufacturing (38%), followed by finance and real estate, consumer goods and services, and information technology”.
Notably, the IT sector is currently recruiting more highly skilled and experienced professionals to lead digital transformation projects and new technology ideas. However, the demand for recruiting young, newly graduated workers in this sector is showing signs of slowing down.
Explaining this, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thanh, Director of senior human resource recruitment services in the North, ManpowerGroup Vietnam, said that businesses are still closely monitoring the economic situation before deciding to expand their workforce, in addition to prioritizing improving the performance of existing staff instead of recruiting new ones.
According to ManpowerGroup Vietnam experts, comprehensive human resource policy planning is very important to optimize human resources. Enterprises should make human resource plans for a period of 3-5 years, and at the same time focus on building internal talent sources instead of depending on external sources. Because when the market becomes more competitive, recruitment will be a big challenge, especially when external workers may not have the necessary skills.
