Previously, on June 10, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien had a meeting with Ms. Jenniffer M. Chan and Ms. Zoe Barinaga, Vice President of Exxon Mobil - a leading corporation in the oil and gas sector of the US and the world. The Minister requested Exxon Mobil to continue implementing the Blue Whale field development project in the current phase in accordance with the provisions of law and the signed oil and gas contract.

Meanwhile, representatives of Exxon Mobil Corporation affirmed that they always believe in Vietnam's economic development prospects and potential in the Southeast Asian region, and this is the reason why Exxon Mobil has implemented many projects in Vietnam. On June 9, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien also had a working session with leaders of the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFTA) and member businesses.

Here, the Minister expressed his wish and expectation that, with hundreds of textile and footwear enterprises as members currently operating in Vietnam, AAFTA, with its strong influence, would help to give opinions to the Trump Administration to convey Vietnam's message: " The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the US has been strongly promoted, creating favorable conditions for US companies to invest and do business smoothly in Vietnam. Therefore, cooperation with Vietnam will bring long-term strategic benefits and contribute to improving the trade balance towards fairness, harmony and sustainability between the two countries.

Vietnam needs to be treated as a priority trade partner of the US. Vietnam proposes that the US work with Vietnam to resolve current trade and economic issues, promptly recognize Vietnam as a market economy, and remove Vietnam from the D1 and D3 lists that restrict the export of high-tech products. This will contribute to bringing practical benefits to both countries in both the short and long term .

In response, AAFTA leaders and member businesses said they want the US to have a strong and stable trade relationship with Vietnam.

In recent times, the association and its member enterprises have taken many actions to promote trade between the two countries. AAFTA leaders also hope that the negotiation process will end on the principle of mutual benefit for both sides, facilitating import and export activities in the textile and garment industry in particular between the two countries and many other industries in general.
