The year 2025 is of special significance in Vietnam-Laos educational cooperation. This will be the year the two sides will organize a preliminary review of the Project “Improving the quality and effectiveness of Vietnam-Laos cooperation in the field of education and human resource development for the period 2021-2030”. The preliminary review results will create a solid foundation for implementing the goals of the next 5-year period, from 2026 to 2030.
In recent years, educational cooperation between Vietnam and Laos has achieved many positive results. Currently, there are more than 10,000 Lao students studying in Vietnam. Training institutions in Vietnam always pay special attention to Lao students, applying many creative solutions to support the learning process such as the model of sending students to local people's homes, organizing professional capacity building programs, adding specialized Vietnamese language subjects and university preparatory programs, etc.
In particular, the 2024-2025 school year will witness the first batch of Lao high school students graduating from high school in Vietnam. The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training will create favorable conditions for them to continue their university studies in Vietnam.
Teaching Vietnamese in Laos has also been promoted with Vietnam sending teachers to teach at high schools, Vietnamese language departments of universities, colleges, and Vietnamese language centers. These training programs have contributed significantly to promoting the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
Also at the 47th Meeting of the Vietnam - Laos Intergovernmental Committee, the two sides agreed to give special priority to education and training, including prioritizing cooperation in developing high-quality human resources, training leaders and managers at all levels, and Lao students in Vietnam.
