Based on the agreements and protocols on cooperation in the field of education between the two governments, the two sides reaffirmed that the selection of Lao officials and students to study in Vietnam will be undertaken by the Lao side, ensuring a balance with the needs of human resource development, meeting the requirements of economic , cultural and social development of Laos and fully complying with the provisions of the Protocol on training cooperation between the two countries.

Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh highly appreciated Vietnam's sustainable support in the field of education and human resource training for Laos. She said that from 2021 to present, Vietnam has received about 40 Lao students each year to study high school, mainly children of strategic officials. This is a force expected to play a key role in the future, contributing to the development of the country and preserving the special Vietnam-Laos relationship.

Also within the framework of the working session, representatives of Friendship School 80 and Friendship School T78 - the first two institutions to receive and train Lao students in Vietnam - reported on the results of teaching, management and care for international students. The schools emphasized the role of accompanying, tutoring, supplementing knowledge and organizing many practical educational activities to help international students quickly integrate into the new environment and develop comprehensively.

A notable content mentioned at the meeting was Vietnam's policy of making Lao the 8th foreign language taught in the general education system. According to Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong, this is not only an educational activity but also a strategic step to strengthen Vietnam - Laos relations, especially in border areas, helping students connect culturally, improve understanding and contribute to maintaining regional security.

“To effectively implement this content, efforts and the best conditions from both countries are needed. Especially in training teachers, compiling appropriate teaching materials and building infrastructure, while maintaining close cooperation between educational agencies to ensure the program is implemented effectively and sustainably,” the Deputy Minister noted.
