Van Ninh - Cam Lo Expressway before technical opening day

The Van Ninh - Cam Lo Expressway is a component project of the North - South Eastern Expressway Project, phase 2021-2025. The project has a total investment of more than VND 9,900 billion, divided into two packages and invested by the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, starting construction on January 1, 2023.

Van Ninh - Cam Lo Expressway, with a total length of 65.5km, connects the two provinces of Quang Binh (nearly 33km) and Quang Tri (more than 32km). The starting point of the expressway is in Van Ninh commune, Quang Ninh district, Quang Binh province and the end point intersects with National Highway 9, connecting with Cam Lo - La Son Expressway (connecting Quang Tri with Hue city).

Van Ninh - Cam Lo project meets the standards of a 4-lane highway, with a roadbed width of 17m and a design speed of 80-90km/h. Emergency stops are arranged every 4-5km.

The project has 4 interconnecting intersections including: National Highway 9C, National Highway 9D, National Highway 9A and Provincial Road 75. There are 29 bridges on the route with a length of 5,403m, including 16 bridges on the main route, 10 overpasses and 4 bridges in the intersections.

After more than 2 years of construction, the entire main route of the Van Ninh - Cam Lo highway has been paved, and some basic items have been completed. It is expected that the investor will organize the technical traffic opening at the end of June.

According to Dan Tri reporters on the afternoon of June 25, contractors are mobilizing vehicles and human resources to urgently carry out tasks such as installing hard dividers, guardrail systems, painting road markings; installing signs on the route, and building protective fences to prepare for technical traffic opening.

A representative of the Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board (investor) said that according to plan, the main route will be completed by the end of June to connect with the entire North-South Expressway Project.

The highway runs through An Ma Lake in Le Thuy District, Quang Binh Province. This is considered the most beautiful route on the Van Ninh - Cam Lo highway.

Upon completion, the end of the Van Ninh - Cam Lo highway will connect with the Cam Lo - La Son highway. The lighting system and signs have been fully installed in the area passing through Cam Lo district.

At the National Highway 9 overpass (end of the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway project), the section passing through Cam Lo district, Quang Tri province, the contractor mobilized many workers and machines to speed up progress.

Regarding the expressway projects through Quang Binh and Quang Tri, the Bung - Van Ninh expressway (Quang Binh area) has been technically opened to traffic and put into temporary operation. However, because the component projects at both ends, Van Ninh - Cam Lo and Vung Ang - Bung (connecting Ha Tinh - Quang Binh) have not been completed, the Bung - Van Ninh expressway has very little traffic.

The Vung Ang - Bung expressway project (connecting Ha Tinh - Quang Binh) has not been able to open and be put into operation on June 30 as planned by the Ministry of Construction. This expressway passes through many types of complex and dangerous terrain such as hills, mountains, lakes, and valleys, making construction difficult.
