According to Project Management Board 6 ( Ministry of Construction ) - the investor of the Vung Ang - Bung expressway project, vehicles are allowed to exploit the Vung Ang - Bung expressway from the North connecting with the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway (route about Km568+200), to the South connecting with the Bung - Van Ninh expressway (route about Km625+000).
The Vung Ang - Bung expressway section is over 55 km long and passes through 2 intersections, including Tien Chau - Van Hoa intersection (about Km597+900), QL12A intersection (about Km605+500).
Vung Ang - Bung Expressway has a rest stop at Km594+400 (under construction) located on both sides of the expressway.
Currently, the Ministry of Construction is directing the investor to urgently complete the remaining items of the Vung Ang - Bung expressway such as the service road system; ITS and other works.
According to the Ministry of Construction, the Vung Ang - Bung expressway is part of the North - South Eastern Expressway project for the 2021 - 2025 period. The project started construction in January 2023 and has now basically completed the main route.
The Vung Ang - Bung Expressway is more than 55km long, starting construction in January 2023 with a total capital of more than 12,540 billion VND. The starting point is at the intersection of Ky Hoa commune, Ha Tinh province, connecting to the Ham Nghi - Vung Ang expressway. The ending point is at Bo Trach commune, Quang Tri province, connecting to the Bung - Van Ninh expressway (opened to traffic in April) at the Phong Nha intersection.
Phase 1 of the Vung Ang - Bung Expressway has a scale of 4 lanes, no emergency lane, 17 m wide roadbed, designed speed of 80 - 90 km/h. In the completed phase, the Vung Ang - Bung Expressway is a class 100 expressway, designed speed of 100 km/h.
