
In Hue city, there have been 38 landslides (currently, localities are continuing to update statistics); of which, the most are in Khe Tre commune with 17 points; the rest are in the communes and wards of Binh Dien, A Luoi 1, A Luoi 3, Thuy Xuan.
La Son - Tuy Loan highway at Km12+000-Km14+000 had landslides causing traffic jams. Ho Chi Minh road was cut off in many places by landslides and impassable. National Highway 49A from Hue city center to A Luoi had landslides in many places. Most of the provincial road system was deeply flooded and impassable; the urban road system was deeply flooded and had to be closed.
The communes and wards of Hue city have evacuated 1,663 households with 4,242 people. Localities are currently continuing to evacuate households at risk of landslides and prolonged flooding.
Prolonged heavy rains caused the flood on the Huong River at Kim Long to rise to 5.04m, 1.54m above alert level 3; and the flood on the Bo River at Phu Oc to rise to 5.12m, 0.62m above alert level 3. This is an exceptionally large flood on these two rivers, since the historic flood in 1999.
Irrigation and hydroelectric reservoirs in the city are safe. Binh Dien and Huong Dien hydroelectric reservoirs have been put into operation in case of extreme and unusual rain and flood situations. Ta Trach reservoir is forecasted to have many complicated situations. Hue city is coordinating with the Management Board of Irrigation Investment and Construction Project 5, reporting to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to monitor and develop handling plans in the worst possible situation.
It is forecasted that from now until the morning of October 29, there will be heavy rain, very heavy rain in Hue city, and especially heavy rain in mountainous areas; total rainfall will be 250-500mm, in some places over 700mm.
