Thus, it is expected that on October 28, the railway industry will stop this pair of trains and the heritage trains HD1/HD2; HD3/HD4 on the Hue - Da Nang route.
On October 27, North-South train pairs including SE1/2, SE3/4, SE19/20 departing from Hanoi , Da Nang, and Saigon also stopped running due to the impact of floods in the Central region.
According to statistics of the Railway Corporation, the total number of passengers on the affected trains was 2,700 passengers.
Passengers with tickets for the above trains can return their tickets at the station, free of charge, within 30 days.
Currently, to protect the safety of the Bach Ho railway bridge in Hue city from the continuously rising water level of the Huong river, the railway industry has mobilized 19 stone-carrying wagons (nearly 700 tons) to block the bridge to increase the load, avoiding the risk of being swept away by the strong current.
According to the representative of the Railway Corporation, sending trains to hold the bridge is an emergency solution, often applied during heavy rains and floods, helping to protect important works and ensure safety for the national railway line.
This is the second time the railway industry has had to dispatch trains to maintain the bridge during the 2025 flood season to proactively respond to natural disasters and ensure smooth rail traffic. Previously, in early October, the railway industry dispatched a 300-ton train to maintain the bridge in Bac Giang.
On October 27, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Official Dispatch No. 203/CD-TTg directing ministries, branches and localities to focus on emergency response and overcoming the consequences of heavy rain and floods in the Central region.
The dispatch clearly stated that the Minister of Construction directed the immediate implementation of solutions to respond to and protect works and traffic infrastructure; ensure traffic safety, construction activities, especially the safety of people and vehicles at construction sites of expressways during the period affected by floods; concentrate maximum forces, vehicles and materials to promptly overcome and repair landslides and damaged areas, ensuring smooth and safe traffic in the shortest time, especially on main traffic axes and arterial routes.
