Upon receiving the news, at 10:45 a.m., local forces arrived at Mr. L's house to verify. When they opened the door, they discovered 4 adults and 4 children unconscious and in critical condition.

Immediately, the Commune Civil Defense Command mobilized forces and people to take all victims to the Commune Health Station for initial first aid. Then, they were transported to the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway for ambulances to take them to hospitals in Da Nang City for emergency treatment.

The initial cause was determined to be suffocation in a closed room. Of the 8 victims, 7 were from the same family and a friend who came to avoid the flood.
