According to the warning information of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 6:30 p.m. on October 28, in the next 3 to 6 hours, the Da Nang area will continue to have heavy to very heavy rain, with common rainfall of 30-60mm.

In the next 6 hours, there is a high risk of flash floods on rivers and streams, landslides on slopes in many communes and wards. The disaster risk level is determined at level 3.

Due to the continued heavy rain, the water level at the reservoirs of hydroelectric projects in the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river basin is continuously rising and is likely to continue to operate to release water, leading to flooding in the downstream areas on the night of October 28 and early morning of October 29.

Implementing the direction of the Standing Committee of the Da Nang City People's Council, the Urban Committee requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment to regularly monitor the flood situation, promptly advise the City People's Committee to direct and coordinate the operation of inter-reservoirs of hydropower projects on the Vu Gia - Thu Bon river basin in a synchronous, timely, effective manner, in accordance with the principles of operating flood-reducing reservoirs for downstream areas according to Decision No. 1865/QD-TTg dated December 23, 2019 of the Prime Minister .

At the same time, organize early warnings and information for people in downstream areas when implementing water discharge operations and effectively implementing natural disaster response work according to approved plans to ensure people's safety and minimize damage to property, works, vehicles, etc.

On the same evening, Mr. Tran Nam Hung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, said that all reservoirs in the area were currently full of water. Da Nang City has directed to resolutely implement the principle of releasing water equal to the amount of water coming in to ensure the safety of the dam. This is strictly implemented. If flooding occurs, it is due to prolonged heavy rain, not due to the reservoir releasing floodwater.

Mr. Tran Nam Hung also informed that in emergency situations, the city has announced the responsible unit for on-duty in each area, and at the same time publicized the contact phone number so that people and local authorities can proactively coordinate when necessary.
