Landslide flooded into the headquarters, Tra Van commune had to evacuate urgently

ĐNO - On the evening and morning of October 29, many mountainous localities continued to record serious landslides, threatening dozens of households. In Tra Van commune, a large amount of rock and soil from the stream poured into the commune People's Committee headquarters.

On the morning of October 29, Mr. Nguyen Tan Thanh, Chairman of Tra Van Commune People's Committee, sent reporters of Da Nang Newspaper and Radio and Television many images and videos recording the heavy rain, floods and landslides in the commune.

In particular, the stream behind the People's Committee this morning suddenly carried a large amount of mud and rocks, flooding the headquarters.

“Faced with that danger, the commune directed cadres and civil servants to proactively move to a safe place. Only 9 militia members were assigned to stay at the agency. Basic food was sufficient for many days,” said Mr. Thanh.

Mr. Thanh said that currently in the commune there are dozens of other landslides, causing roads to villages and residential areas to be cut off.

[VIDEO] - Floods and landslides in Tra Van commune:

* In Avuong commune , due to complicated rain developments, on the morning of October 29, the Commune Civil Defense Command Urgent meeting and emergency evacuation of 21 households/69 people in Ga'lau and Talang villages - areas at risk of landslides and flooding.

Households were moved to the multi-purpose hall of Avuong Primary School or were placed with safe families. Previously, the locality relocated many other households to safe shelters.

* In Tra Tap commune , two suspension bridges built from socialized sources, connecting Tak Nhing residential area, were swept away by floodwaters and completely damaged, isolating 40 households in the area.

Currently, the village is urgently counting the population and coordinating with functional forces to find solutions to ensure safety and support people to stabilize soon.

According to a quick report from the city’s Department of Agriculture and Environment, there are about 66,813 households affected by flooding in the city. There are 10 communes completely isolated, including: Go Noi, Thuong Duc, Vu Gia, Ha Nha, Dai Loc, Nong Son, Que Phuoc, Duy Xuyen, Thu Bon, Phu Thuan.

There are 29 communes and wards heavily flooded: Hai Van, Hoa Xuan, Hoa Tien, Lien Chieu, Ngu Hanh Son, Hoa Vang, Ba Na, Thanh My, Phuoc Tra, Viet An, Son Cam Ha, Xuan Phu, Thang An, Thang Dien, Thang Binh, Thang Phu, Dong Duong, Quang Phu, Tay Ho, Phu Ninh, Dien Ban Tay, Duy Xuyen, Nam Phuoc, An Thang Ward, Hoi An, Hoi An Tay, Hoi An Dong, Duy Nghia, Dien Ban, Dien Ban Bac.
