Quang Ngai: Hundreds of people used sandbags to block Tra Khuc River from overflowing into Song Dao Canal

On the afternoon of October 29, hundreds of people tried to put sand in bags and drop them into the end of the Song Dao canal to prevent water from flowing back from the Tra Khuc river (Nghia Lo ward, Quang Ngai province) into the center of Quang Ngai province.

The Song Dao Canal is the main drainage point for the northern part of Quang Ngai's central urban area. Normally, when the water level rises, the forced pumping station here will close the sluice gates and operate the pumps to push the water out into the Tra Khuc River.

However, at that time, the entire area was under construction for an embankment to prevent landslides combined with a riverside park along the Tra Khuc River, so the pumping station temporarily ceased operation. When the floodwaters on the Tra Khuc River rose rapidly on October 29th, exceeding alarm level 3, the water flowed back into the Song Dao canal.
