Quang Ngai: Call for support of essential goods for 5 villages isolated by landslides

On October 29, the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Ngai province said it had issued a letter calling on businesses and distributors to join hands to support essential goods for people isolated due to landslides.

A part of the goods donated by the people has been gathered by the Department of Industry and Trade, waiting to be transported to support the people of 5 villages of Ngoc Linh commune.

Accordingly, the Department of Industry and Trade calls for support for essential goods such as rice, instant noodles, dried foods, canned foods, drinking water, cooking oil, salt, fish sauce, sugar, raincoats, blankets, flashlights, corrugated iron of all kinds... Support goods are received at the Department's Facility 2 (No. 494 Tran Phu, Kon Tum Ward, Quang Ngai Province). Authorities open roads to 5 isolated villages

In recent days, prolonged heavy rains have caused flash floods and landslides of nearly 3km, completely isolating 5 villages of Ngoc Linh commune including Ngoc Nang, Mo Po, Xa Ua, Ngoc Lang and Tu Rang, damaging roads, drainage systems and sweeping away large areas of coffee, macadamia, rice and livestock farms. Currently, the authorities are urgently opening roads to access and supply medicine and essential goods to the people.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Man, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Quang Ngai province, said: After the landslide caused isolation, the lives of people in Ngoc Linh commune faced many difficulties. The Department proactively called for support to mobilize resources to help people overcome the immediate period, not letting anyone go hungry or cold. The Department coordinated with local authorities to receive and plan to transport the goods to the gathering point today, then use specialized vehicles to transport them to the commune to distribute to people soon.
