On the evening of October 28, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen and the working delegation directly inspected the flooding situation in Binh Thuan ward, which was heavily affected by prolonged heavy rain, causing damage to houses, crops and traffic infrastructure.

According to records, Binh Thuan ward is one of the areas most severely affected by floods. The entire ward has 133 households in wards 5, 6, Xuan Dien, Phu Dien, Phu Nhang, Xuan Phong and Xuan Phu deeply flooded, many household items were damaged. Local authorities promptly organized the evacuation of 133 households to safety.

Heavy rain also flooded 10 hectares of vegetables, 15 hectares of rice, 140 hectares of dragon fruit and washed away 1 shrimp pond, 1 fish pond, total damage estimated at about 7 billion VND. In addition, Provincial Road 718 through Xuan Dien quarter was eroded about 30m, along with many other traffic routes being flooded, locally eroded, causing temporary traffic jams.

At the inspection destinations, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen and the working delegation directly grasped the flooding situation, recorded damage in areas with deep flooded dragon fruit and fruit trees, and inspected some flood drainage canals in Binh Thuan ward.

Earlier, in the morning of the same day, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen issued a document directing relevant departments, branches and localities to urgently go to the grassroots to grasp the situation, support people in flooded areas, and at the same time inspect and urge the work of overcoming the consequences to soon stabilize life. The leaders of the Provincial People's Committee also requested units to proactively monitor closely the weather, hydrometeorological developments and water storage levels at reservoirs to have timely response measures.

Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen discussed with members of the delegation about the flood situation in the province.

Comrade Le Trong Yen requested relevant units to regularly update and deploy plans to ensure safety during the operation of irrigation works, maintain smooth communication to promptly handle arising situations. Localities must proactively develop plans to respond to floods, especially ensuring safety for downstream areas when operating reservoirs; promptly notify and warn people to protect lives and property.

Forces in Binh Thuan ward support evacuating people to safety

Local fish, units closely coordinate with irrigation and hydropower companies in the area in regulating and operating reservoirs, ensuring timely response to all flood situations. At the same time, urgently deploy plans to prevent heavy rain, flooding, landslides; proactively drain water, prevent flooding to protect production, residential areas, urban areas and industrial zones in the area.
