'Love between army and people, solidarity between compatriots' amid floods

Currently, Da Nang city has heavy rain and floods with complicated developments. Many areas are deeply flooded, causing landslides, seriously affecting the lives of thousands of people.

Amidst the flood, the noble spirit of "Love between army and people, solidarity between compatriots" of the Vietnamese people was deeply and warmly demonstrated, becoming a solid support to help people overcome difficulties.

In the fight against natural disasters, the image of soldiers, police, and militiamen has become a symbol of bravery and responsibility. As soon as the flood rose, the Military Region 5 Command together with the Military Command and the Da Nang City Police Department urgently mobilized thousands of officers, soldiers, and vehicles, and set up a forward command post to respond.

They did not fear danger, using canoes, special vehicles, or even carrying people, especially the elderly, children, and sick people, to safe shelters. Thousands of people and tourists were promptly evacuated from dangerous areas, deep floods, and landslides. Engineering units quickly mobilized to landslide areas such as National Highway 40B, leveling rocks and soil, clearing fallen trees to clear the route, ensuring traffic routes for relief work and access to isolated areas.

Touching images of soldiers wading through floodwaters to support families with funerals, using canoes to cross the flood to transport the coffins of the deceased to their final resting places, helping people move their belongings, carrying the elderly, children, and tourists to safety; images of bowls of hot instant noodles delivered to the people by police officers in the Tra Leng mountainous region; thousands of gifts sent by city police officers to the Northern Quang Nam Regional General Hospital... have clearly demonstrated the spirit of "serving the people" of the armed forces.

The solidarity of the people of Da Nang and the whole country was most clearly demonstrated. People proactively helped each other raise furniture, provide temporary shelter, share food and water. The spirit of "the rich help the poor" was demonstrated through practical, simple but meaningful actions. Organizations, individuals, philanthropists, and rescue teams (SOS) from all over the country turned to Da Nang, donating cash, necessities, and essential items. Packages of instant noodles, drinks, life jackets, etc. followed the rescuers through the flood to the people, contributing to giving them great spiritual strength.

The entire political system of Da Nang focused all its efforts on responding to and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters. Leaders of the City Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Da Nang City directly inspected and directed the response work in Hoi An, Tra Leng, La Son - Tuy Loan Expressway... and key points.

Directly directing the response to floods in wards in Hoi An ancient town on the morning of October 28, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee Le Ngoc Quang requested "Absolutely not to let any unfortunate incidents happen due to subjectivity or delay; must ensure maximum safety for people, must not let anyone get stuck or in danger". Functional units review and ensure adequate essential supplies, including food, clean water, medicine, and other necessary items to provide timely to people in isolated and deeply flooded areas.

Medical care must be given top priority during the peak of the flood season. Medical facilities need to increase human resources, medicine, and prepare first aid plans to handle epidemic situations that arise after the flood. Under all circumstances, people must not be left hungry, cold, or lacking medical care. This is also the political and humanitarian responsibility of the entire city's political system.

The local government pledged not to let people who lost their homes due to floods and storms suffer from the "open air" situation, and implemented a plan to support the construction of new houses for households affected by landslides, helping people to soon stabilize their lives and restore production after the flood.

In times of adversity and difficulty, the decisive participation of the entire political system, the deep affection between the army and the people, and the mutual love of compatriots across the country have become a source of motivation for the people of Da Nang to overcome challenges, upholding the humanistic spirit of the Vietnamese people. This is a solid foundation for Da Nang and the whole country to always be ready to respond to and overcome natural disasters as well as other challenges in the future.
