Proposal to adjust and expand Danang University Urban Area to 558 hectares

DNO - On the morning of October 28, at a working session between the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training and the leaders of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, they agreed to propose the Government to adjust the planning of the Da Nang University Urban Area from 300 hectares to 558 hectares.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Le Tan Dung and Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Nam Hung chaired the meeting.

All opinions affirmed that the above proposal is consistent with the orientation of developing university education and building Da Nang into a center of knowledge, science and technology of the whole country.

According to the report of the People's Committee of Da Nang city at the working session, the planning adjustment was identified as a necessary step to meet the requirements of university education development in the new context, in line with the Central Government's policy and the orientation of building Da Nang into a center of knowledge, science and technology of the whole country.

The new plan is expected to increase the scale of the Danang University Urban Area to about 558 hectares (according to the approved plan in Decision No. 986/QD-TTg dated July 9, 2020 of the Prime Minister is 300 hectares), directly connected with the southern innovation zone of the city, creating a foundation for forming an ecosystem of research, startups and training high-quality human resources.

Total investment capital for the 2026 - 2030 period is expected to be more than 14,200 billion VND, from the state budget and socialized sources.

Upon completion, Danang University Urban Area will become a new symbol of higher education in the Central region, contributing to realizing the vision of building Danang into an innovative and sustainably developed city by 2030.

Danang University aims to be among the top 150 universities in Asia, have at least one major group in the top 100 universities in the world; create 50 start-up businesses each year and attract at least 50 million USD for research and technology.

These are the tasks assigned according to the Central's conclusion on science - technology development and innovation.

At the meeting, Danang University proposed that the Ministry of Education and Training and the City People's Committee agree on a plan to adjust the overall planning and submit it to the Prime Minister for consideration and approval; at the same time, consider decentralizing the authority to approve planning adjustments to the city to ensure proactiveness and flexibility.

Danang University proposed that the city support site clearance, arrange resettlement land fund and prepare infrastructure conditions to serve the implementation period 2026 - 2030.

Leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training affirmed that they will coordinate with relevant agencies to complete the dossier and report to the Prime Minister for approval of the plan adjustment policy.

The Ministry requested the City People's Committee and Da Nang University to continue to accompany and ensure the project's progress and quality, meeting the requirements of university education development and the need for high-quality human resources in the Central Highlands region.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Nam Hung emphasized that the city government is committed to accompanying and creating favorable conditions for the project to be implemented soon; especially in site clearance, resettlement arrangement and mobilizing resources for infrastructure investment.

The City People's Committee assigned relevant departments, branches and sectors to closely coordinate with Da Nang University, develop detailed plans, ensure the rights of people in the project area and promptly complete procedures according to regulations.

According to the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, the adjustment of the planning of the Danang University Urban Area is a strategic task, contributing to the construction of a modern, innovative university urban space, playing a driving role in promoting the goal of developing Danang into a smart city, an educational, scientific and technological center of the whole country in the new period.
