On Tran Phu Street, the water level is about 0.5m, this is also the only route where tourists can wade into the old town. People are busy placing their belongings high, tourists are walking around, sightseeing, taking pictures, creating a bustling scene in Hoi An during the flood season that is rarely seen anywhere else.

“I have heard a lot about the flood season in Hoi An, but this is the first time I have witnessed it. Unfortunately, the floodwaters are high so I cannot go by boat to see it. I plan to stay a few more days to wait for the water to go down to experience Hoi An during the flood season,” said Ha Ngoc Anh, a tourist from Hanoi .
In addition, the floodwaters rose so many people were also busy "running away from the flood". Mr. Nguyen Kiem (72 years old, living in An Hoi area, Hoi An ward) said that on the afternoon of October 27, the floodwaters suddenly rose, his house was submerged more than 1.5m deep so the whole family had to move to higher ground.
“This is the first major flood of 2025 but it is higher than all the floods last year. I have moved all my belongings, motorbikes, etc. to a neighbor with a high-rise building, now I can safely avoid the flood,” said Mr. Kiem.

According to the Central Central Hydrometeorological Station, flood water level in Hoi An in the next 6-12 hours will rise to 3m, 1m above alert level 3.
According to the People's Committee of Hoi An Ward, the water level of Thu Bon River is rising very quickly, the locality has increased forces on duty in vulnerable and deeply flooded areas to ensure the safety of residents and tourists.
