Fraudsters use sophisticated scam scenarios to target people looking for love online. Bad guys combine emotional tricks with the lure of investing in virtual currency, pushing victims into a situation of "losing money, losing love" in just 3 stages.

According to analysis, this form of fraud, commonly known as "Pig Butchering", is becoming increasingly popular on social media platforms and dating apps.

The scammer does not attack immediately but patiently builds a perfect scenario to manipulate the victim's psychology.

“The scenario begins with the bad guys creating fake accounts on Facebook, Tinder or Telegram. They build an ideal image of a “princess” or “princess”: rich, successful, polite and lovable.

After that, they proactively approach, send sweet messages, continuously praise and share touching personal stories to "catch" the victim's trust," Mr. Trung described.

The goal of this stage is to make the victim believe that they have been lucky enough to meet their "destiny", thereby letting down their guard and gradually becoming emotionally dependent.

Once the victim is completely "infatuated" and trusting, the scammer moves to stage two. They start "unintentionally" bragging about crypto (virtual currency) or stock investments that bring "super profitable" profits.

To increase credibility, they lure victims into investing through a separate application or website created by themselves.

This expert pointed out: "Initially, they will let the victim withdraw the profits in small amounts easily. This completely destroys all last doubts, making the victim believe that this is a golden opportunity."

Once they have gained trust, the victim is lured into depositing increasingly large sums of money. The scammer urges them to borrow from friends and family, even mortgage their home, to “go all in” on the chance to change their life.

Finally, the tragic end of the scenario. Once the victim has deposited a “mountain of money”, the investment app suddenly crashes, locks up or becomes inaccessible.

At the same time, the social media accounts of the perfect "princess" or "princess" also disappeared without a trace. All communication was cut off.

"Money disappears, communication is cut off. The only thing left for the victims is heavy debt and a broken heart," Mr. Trung warned of the dire consequences.

To avoid falling into this sophisticated scam, Mr. Phan Duc Trung advises people to be extremely alert: "Never believe in "online love" too quickly, especially when the budding relationship soon touches on money matters."

This expert emphasized that people need to be absolutely vigilant with any "strange" investment invitations or requests to install applications of unknown origin (not available on the App Store or Google Play).

When there are any suspicious signs, it is necessary to carefully check the information and immediately report to the authorities for timely support.
