The Battle of The Pastry & Bakery 2025 competition took place in the coastal city of Penang (Malaysia), from July 18 to 20, organized by the Penang Chefs Association (Malaysia), under the professional sponsorship of the World Chefs Association (Worldchefs).
The event gathered more than 400 chefs from countries and territories such as Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia, China, Korea, Vietnam... Teams competed in many categories: Wedding cakes, bread art, chocolate sculptures, sugar decorations...
The Vietnamese chef delegation includes 15 contestants from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Vinh Long, Da Nang and Phu Quoc (An Giang), organized and led by the Saigon Chef Association (under the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association) and the Vietnam Bakery Association (under the Vietnam Tourism Association).
Under the guidance of Chef Le Thi Kieu Oanh (stage name Kieu Oanh - Cherry), the team has demonstrated excellent professional skills, fierce competitive spirit and international playing field.
During the three days of competition, Vietnamese chefs conquered the judges with a series of impressive works, from exquisite wedding cakes, artistic bread designs, to elaborately shaped sugar and chocolate works that were as lifelike as sculptures.
In particular, chef Duong Minh Tri won 3 individual Gold Medals and was honored with the "Best Chef of the competition" Cup.
Immediately after the competition ended, Head of the Jury - Chef Kenny Kong (Singapore) - sent an official letter to the Vietnam Tourism Association to congratulate the Vietnamese delegation.

In the letter, he wrote: "I have witnessed the persistent efforts, outstanding creativity and great team spirit of the Vietnamese team. Under the professional guidance of Chef Kieu Oanh - Cherry, they have demonstrated exquisite skills, from wedding cakes to sugar art works. This is a worthy and glorious victory."
On the afternoon of July 21, as soon as the delegation returned to Vietnam at Tan Son Nhat Airport (HCMC), Ms. Nguyen Thi Khanh - Vice President of Vietnam Tourism Association, President of HCMC Tourism Association - personally welcomed the delegation.
With 16 Gold Medals, 5 Silver Medals, 11 Bronze Medals and 2 major trophies, including the Overall Championship Cup and the Best Chef Cup, this is a resounding victory affirming the position of Vietnamese baking on the international culinary map.
