Established in 1995 on the basis of inheriting the glorious military tradition of Air Force Regiment 919, Vietnam Airlines Corporation carries the mission of not only being an economic enterprise, but also a symbol of culture, national spirit and integration aspirations.
As the National Airline, Vietnam Airlines is also the core force in carrying out political, defense, social security and foreign affairs tasks of the country, from emergency situations to national events.
Over the past 30 years, Vietnam Airlines has stood by the country in the most difficult times such as the campaign to evacuate citizens in Libya (2011, 2014), bringing Vietnamese citizens affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, and hundreds of humanitarian flights during the Covid-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, Vietnam Airlines demonstrated its efforts to overcome the unprecedented crisis of the global aviation industry, while receiving close attention and direction from the Party, State, Government and National Assembly , thereby gradually recovering and moving forward steadily.

From an airline with a small fleet and limited facilities, Vietnam Airlines Corporation has risen to become a 4-star airline according to international standards, with the goal of conquering 5-star standards in the future.
During its three decades of operation, the airline has served 350 million passengers, transported 4.7 million tons of cargo, operated nearly 100 routes to 53 domestic and international destinations, and connected more than 1,000 global destinations through the SkyTeam alliance.
The equitization milestone in 2015 marked a turning point in the development journey of Vietnam Airlines, helping the airline gradually approach international governance standards, attract strategic investors and improve operational efficiency. Vietnam Airlines' revenue has continuously grown.
In the period 1995-2024, the total amount paid to the state budget from the parent company and its subsidiaries reached about 68 trillion VND, three times the capital contribution of state shareholders, affirming its position as a core enterprise in the national economy. In 2024 alone, consolidated revenue reached nearly 113 trillion VND, consolidated profit after tax reached a record of 7,958 billion VND; the first quarter of 2025 continued to record growth with pre-tax profit reaching nearly 3,625 billion VND.

In recent years, Vietnam Airlines has promoted digital transformation, improving passenger experience and competitiveness. The airline has been recognized by Skytrax as a 4-star airline, honored by APEX as a "5-star international airline" and has continuously won many prestigious awards such as World Travel Awards, Vietnam Tourism Awards - Top 10 leading transportation and tourism enterprises; "Asia's leading airline in premium economy class", Advanced e-commerce airline; Airline with the "Best Customer Loyalty Program" and many other international titles.
Not only a trade bridge, Vietnam Airlines also contributes to spreading the country's image through activities promoting culture, art and cuisine. Aiming to become a 5-star international airline by 2030, Vietnam Airlines continues to modernize its fleet, expand its flight network, develop personalized services and apply new technologies. At the same time, the airline identifies people as the center of development, focusing on building a high-quality workforce with courage, knowledge and service spirit, meeting the requirements of deep international integration.
The past three decades have laid a solid foundation for Vietnam Airlines to continue its journey of dedication with the desire to constantly raise the position of Vietnamese aviation in the world's skies.
At the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh awarded the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to Vietnam Airlines for its outstanding achievements and positive contributions to the country's socio-economic development and international integration.

Speaking at the event, on behalf of the Government, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent to generations of leaders, officers, employees and workers of Vietnam Airlines Corporation his best regards, best wishes and sincere and respectful feelings.
The Prime Minister pointed out that Vietnam Airlines had a very special start, starting from a military unit, with its own identity, discipline, and the image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" among its cadres and employees, from which we can feel proud and glorious, but also have great responsibility and a noble mission. We are also proud of the strong aviation industry, a high-tech, high-tech industry. The Party and the State have paid great attention to developing the aviation industry over the years, contributing to the strong development of the country. Therefore, Vietnam Airlines must inherit and promote its traditions and achievements to develop in the new period.

The Prime Minister pointed out that currently, there are many airlines in the country, including private airlines and those in partnership with foreign airlines, but Vietnam Airlines is still the leading airline, not only doing business but also serving national security, foreign affairs, people's lives, and countries in danger such as: during the Covid-19 pandemic, especially transporting Covid-19 vaccines and equipment in a timely manner to serve disease prevention and control, contributing to speeding up the process of reopening activities; rescuing Vietnamese citizens in other countries...
This shows that when the country needs it, the people need it, no matter how difficult it is, it must be done, without hesitation. Vietnam Airlines always completes its mission in a glorious, responsible, and effective manner.

The Prime Minister stated that, regarding the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, all economic sectors of Vietnam suffered severe consequences, including the transport sector in general and the aviation sector in particular. At that time, Vietnam Airlines was calm, courageous, and found solutions to overcome and recover impressively. In 2024, Vietnam Airlines Corporation achieved a consolidated revenue increase of more than 21% compared to 2023 (reaching over VND 93 trillion), gross profit reaching nearly VND 14 trillion. In the first quarter of 2025, service revenue increased by over 9.3% compared to the first quarter of 2024, gross profit reached nearly VND 6,300 billion (up 53.5% compared to the first quarter of 2024).
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary To Lam and the Prime Minister commended and highly appreciated the achievements of Vietnam Airlines over the past time, actively contributing to the development of the country. Vietnam Airlines has contributed to connecting the economy, people, culture, serving tourism development; actively developing green according to the trend of the times.

In the coming time, the Prime Minister emphasized that the world and regional situation will change rapidly, with complex and unpredictable developments; meanwhile, Vietnam is a developing country, with an economy in transition, a modest economic scale, and limited resilience to external shocks. Therefore, we must be smart, calm, clever, courageous, and experienced to develop the country; and must have appropriate, timely, flexible, and effective policies.

The Prime Minister requested the aviation industry and Vietnam Airlines to grasp the situation, come up with timely, appropriate and effective countermeasures; think quickly and realistically because resources originate from thinking; always innovate because motivation originates from innovation; mobilize the combined strength of the entire people and society, cooperate widely because strength originates from the people; have a long-term vision, think deeply, do big things; fly high, reach far, spread across the five continents and four oceans. Wherever Vietnam Airlines flies, it connects with international friends, connects economies, cultures, people-to-people exchanges, develops tourism...
We must develop Vietnam Airlines to be modern, green, fast, sustainable, and unique because this is a high-end service industry; build Vietnam Airlines' cultural identity based on the core cultural identity of the Vietnamese people, which is constant striving, the more pressure, the more effort, steadfastness, courage, wisdom, intelligence, humanity, humanity, friendliness, and respect for relationships.
To do this, the Prime Minister requested to remove and improve the institutions, if the laws are incorrect, they must be amended, if the decrees are incorrect, they must be amended; when they are amended, they must be done quickly; institutions must be turned into competitive advantages; and ministries, branches, and Party committees must remove the institutions, delegate more power, decentralize and delegate more power, and cut administrative procedures, thereby cutting costs. The Prime Minister stated that the most feared thing is that the country is poor and backward, and the people do not enjoy prosperity and happiness. The Prime Minister noted that Vietnam Airlines must unite, be unanimous, and work together to develop; unite within the leadership, unite with other airlines, and relevant agencies; create healthy, equal, and transparent development; always listen and know how to share. The Prime Minister hopes that Vietnam Airlines will compete healthily and develop sustainably.
