With two goals from Ngoc My and Viktor Le, U23 Vietnam beat U23 Bangladesh 2-0, having a favorable start in the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers. Despite having all 3 points, the playing style of coach Kim Sang Sik's students revealed many problems that need to be improved.

Midfielder Viktor Le frankly said: Bangladesh is not easy to defeat. They have fast, technical wingers, and a very strong defense. Therefore, winning and keeping a clean sheet is a valuable result for us.

U23 Vietnam faced many difficulties in the first half, but connected very well in the second half, especially in the last 15 minutes of the match. The coordination on both sides and creativity from the midfield helped create many opportunities. If we had taken better advantage, we could have scored more goals."

Regarding his "account-opening" goal in the Asian playground, Viktor Le shared: " Before the match, I was a bit nervous, but when I entered the field, the feeling of confidence came faster. Scoring the first goal for U23 Vietnam was a special moment. I hope to celebrate with my teammates many more times. I also hope to play for the national team in the future."

From another perspective, center back Hieu Minh said: " Coach Kim Sang Sik prepared very carefully before the match and affirmed that there was no easy opponent. U23 Vietnam played well, but still needs to improve in finishing. I think the team can score more goals."

After a 2-0 victory in the opening match, U23 Vietnam will face U23 Singapore (September 6) and U23 Yemen (September 9). Coach Kim Sang Sik and his team aim to win all matches in Group C and secure a ticket to the 2026 AFC U23 Championship.
