Vinamilk is always in the top listed enterprises in Vietnam.

2023 marks the 20th anniversary of Vinamilk's official equitization. Over the past two decades, the dairy giant has proven the effectiveness of its production and business model as well as its stable management capacity in the face of market changes.

More than a decade of holding the throne

Last weekend, the Top 50 Most Effective Companies in Vietnam (TOP50) was announced by Nhip Cau Dau Tu Magazine in collaboration with Thien Viet Securities Company. In its 12th year, this ranking honors 50 businesses holding 34% of the total market capitalization, equivalent to 80 billion USD.

With a return on equity (ROE) of 30% and a market capitalization of $6.57 billion, Vinamilk is the only representative of the dairy industry to be named in this year's rankings. This billion-dollar enterprise has also remained in the Top 50 Most Effective Companies in Vietnam for 12 consecutive years. This demonstrates the company's solid capacity in the face of economic fluctuations over the past decade.

Top 50 most effective companies in Vietnam measure the business results of companies for 3 consecutive years, based on 3 growth indicators: revenue, return on equity (ROE) and earnings per share. The measurement results aim to objectively assess the management capacity of the enterprise.

“In 12 years of organization, Nhip Cau Dau Tu has witnessed the proud development of Vietnamese enterprises, along with the continuous growth of the economy. Therefore, the TOP50 2023 event especially honors many companies with larger scale, higher capitalization value, strong growth rate, worthy of being the pride of the country” - the representative of the Magazine shared.

Previously, the dairy giant was also included in Forbes Vietnam's list of the 50 best listed companies, for the 11th consecutive year since the ranking was published. According to the list, in 2022, Vinamilk ranked 5th in terms of market capitalization, with revenue and after-tax profit reaching over VND60,000 billion and nearly VND8,600 billion, respectively. In 2023, the company aims for total revenue of VND63,380 billion, up 5.5% over the previous year, and after-tax profit of VND8,622 billion.

“In terms of product structure, Vinamilk has an overwhelming market share in several key product lines. The company owns more than 146,000 dairy cows in operation (including a system of farms and cooperative households), operates 15 farms in Vietnam and Laos along with 16 dairy factories,” according to a Forbes report.

Growth goes hand in hand with sustainable development

2023 is also the 20-year milestone since Vinamilk officially equitized - a turning point that helped the company skyrocket in charter capital, revenue and profit. Over the past two decades, the total revenue and pre-tax profit of the leading dairy company have skyrocketed 15 and 13 times, respectively. At the time of equitization in December 2003, Vinamilk's charter capital was only VND1,590 billion; by the end of 2022, the company's capitalization value had exceeded VND159,000 billion.

Vinamilk is also among the top enterprises with the highest cash dividend payments on the stock exchange with a total payment value of more than 76,700 billion VND in the period 2004 - 2022. The unit is holding the No. 1 position in domestic market share of the dairy industry. The above figures partly measure the effectiveness of the production - business model as well as the management capacity and courage of the company's leadership over the periods.

Since the equitization period, Vinamilk's revenue has grown 15 times and pre-tax profit has increased 13 times.

Not only maintaining a stable performance in domestic rankings, effective production and business activities also help Vinamilk brand increase its value in the eyes of international valuation units. In August this year, Brand Finance ( the world's leading brand valuation organization, headquartered in the UK) also announced that Vinamilk's brand value continued to increase to the 3 billion USD mark (from more than 2.8 billion USD last year).

Thanks to that, this “giant” increased one rank, holding the No. 2 position in the Top 100 most valuable brands in Vietnam, continuing to affirm its position as the most valuable food brand in Vietnam and the 6th largest milk brand in the world. Notably, Vinamilk is the only representative of Southeast Asia to make it into the Top 5 most sustainable milk brands in the world.

Sustainable development is one of Vinamilk's four strategic spearheads in the period 2022 - 2026.

Thanks to that, they are always the most popular brand among Vietnamese people," said Mr. Alex Haigh, CEO of Asia - Pacific at Brand Finance.

Speaking at the event announcing the Top 50 most effective businesses in Vietnam, Mr. Chu Minh Truong - Editorial Secretary of Nhip Cau Dau Tu Magazine - said that there are many common points that help businesses maintain high growth in revenue and profit. In particular, the commitment of the leadership team to the core business and the sustainable development trend according to ESG criteria (Environment - Society - Governance) stand out. Sustainable development is also one of Vinamilk's four strategic spearheads in the period of 2022-2026.
