Will the new generation VinFast VF 8 arrive in India?

The new generation VinFast VF 8 electric SUV has just had its trademark registration drawings officially revealed for the Indian market.

This move comes just days after the Vietnamese automaker introduced the new generation of the VF 8 globally, while also confirming plans to soon bring this SUV to the South Asian market to position it above the VF 7.

The new generation marks the most comprehensive transformation of this model since its initial launch in late 2022. The profound changes in design language and software architecture indicate that this is a new generation rather than a typical mid-cycle refresh.

According to the announced plan, the company will officially begin accepting orders for the new model in the Vietnamese market from May 27th and start delivering the first vehicles from July this year.

In terms of specifications, the new VF 8 has a length of 4,701 mm, a width of 1,872 mm, a height of 1,670 mm, a wheelbase of 2,840 mm, and a ground clearance of 170 mm.

The vehicle's exterior has been completely redesigned based on a philosophy called Tech Fluid, aiming to harmoniously integrate digital elements into the physical form.

The new look is significantly sharper and more powerful than its predecessor, but it retains the distinctive wing-shaped LED daytime running lights at the front of the vehicle.

The cabin space also underwent a major overhaul, with the dashboard integrating a 12.9-inch central touchscreen that controls most of the vehicle's functions.

The gear shift lever has been moved to the steering column, similar to modern design trends. Other notable amenities include a digital instrument cluster, dual-zone automatic climate control with air purification, power-adjustable front seats with memory function, a 360-degree camera system, and an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) package.

A fundamental improvement on the new generation VF 8 is the transition to a software-defined vehicle architecture (SDV) developed by VinFast itself, based on an integrated central control computer. This system helps increase response speed and optimize the vehicle's operational control capabilities.

The car's power comes from an electric motor located on the front axle, producing 228 horsepower and 330 Nm of torque. It is equipped with a 60.13 kWh battery pack, providing a maximum range of 500 km on a single full charge according to NEDC standards, and features fast charging from 10% to 70% in under 30 minutes.

To enhance durability and adaptability in markets with extremely hot climates like India, the company has added an integrated thermal management system for the battery, motor, and cabin.

In addition, the adaptive damping system that adapts to frequency, appearing on the new generation, is also expected to bring significant improvements in ride comfort and body control when traveling across various terrains.
