VinFast has just announced that VF 8 - a D-segment electric SUV model has been honored to receive 5 out of 6 safety awards in 2024 from the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asia (ASEAN NCAP). The prestigious awards of ASEAN NCAP clearly affirm the value of VinFast's "Customer-centric" philosophy.
Five awards were presented to VinFast VF 8 at the ASEAN NCAP Grand Prix Awards ceremony on the evening of May 28 in Bangkok (Thailand), including the awards for “Best Child Safety Protection”, “Best Safety Assist”, “Best Car”, “Best Motorcyclist Safety” and “Best SUV”. Surpassing more than 15 major automakers in Southeast Asia to be included in almost all awards, VinFast has demonstrated its outstanding capacity and absolute commitment to consumer safety.
Vinfast VF8 wins at ASEAN NCAP Awards Ceremony
Specifically, ASEAN NCAP awarded VF 8 “Best Child Safety Protection” awards with maximum scores for frontal and side impact tests.
In the “Best Safety Assist” category, the model also won the highest score and was rated well thanks to its safety features such as Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW).
In the categories of “Best Car” and “Best Motorcycle Safety”, the first model launched by VinFast in the world market won the highest score thanks to its safety support technologies achieving maximum scores according to ASEAN NCAP standards. The two features of Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and Blind Spot Detection (BSD) also brought impressive scores.
In the “Best SUV” category, the VF 8 is highly appreciated for its features such as Automatic High Beam (AHB) and Blind Spot Detection (BSD).

Every two years, ASEAN NCAP hosts the ASEAN NCAP Grand Prix Awards to recognise car manufacturers for their outstanding safety performance. This prestigious event attracts participation from all car brands operating in the region.
ASEAN NCAP is the most prestigious safety standard in Southeast Asia and is widely recognized globally. The ASEAN NCAP assessment program focuses on two main criteria: the ability to protect the safety of adults and children in the vehicle.
The prestigious award at the ASEAN NCAP Grand Prix Awards joins the collection of awards that VinFast has achieved over the years, notably the double award at the Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS) 2024; the double award at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2024; the “Innovation Award Honoree” for VinFast MirrorSense, the first automatic mirror adjustment technology using artificial intelligence, at CES 2024; the “Rising Star” award at the Paris Motor Show 2022; the “Corporate Sustainability Champions” award voted by the ORIGIN Innovation Awards 2022 Council.
In 2021, ASEAN NCAP also awarded VinFast the “New Car Manufacturer with High Commitment to Safety” award.
