VNDirect (VND) profit halved, chairman changed after only a few months

In April 2023, VNDirect Securities (Code VND) changed the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors. Accordingly, the chairwoman who has been with VND for 17 years, Ms. Pham Minh Huong, was dismissed and replaced by Mr. Nguyen Vu Long.

Up to now, after 5 months of operation, VNDirect continues to announce the Board of Directors' resolution on changing important positions including the positions of Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director and Legal Representative of the company.

Accordingly, VnDirect will dismiss Ms. Pham Minh Huong from the position of General Director, Mr. Nguyen Vu Long will replace Ms. Huong as General Director from September 18, 2023. At the same time, Ms. Huong will return to the position of Chairwoman of the Board of Directors.

Thus, the announced positions will include: Ms. Pham Minh Huong - Chairwoman of the Board of Directors; Mr. Nguyen Vu Long - General Director; Vu Nam Huong - Financial Director; Dieu Ngoc Tuan - Administrative Director.

Currently, Ms. Huong is holding 35.9 million VND shares equivalent to 2.95% of the company's charter capital.

Regarding business performance, VNDirect recorded its first loss in Q4/2022 with VND 38.4 billion after a long period of continuous profit reporting. However, in the first half of 2023, the company reported a profit again with operating revenue reaching VND 2,894.6 billion, down 18% over the same period.

Of which, operating expenses accounted for VND 1,204.4 billion, the remaining unit's after-tax profit was VND 564.6 billion, down 53.5% compared to the first half of 2022.
