On the morning of July 19, Ms. Trang (living in Ha Long ward, Quang Ninh province) rushed to the morgue of Bai Chay hospital in the hope of finding her younger brother named Th. - one of the 48 passengers on the ill-fated ship Vinh Xanh 58 (code QN 7105) - which had an accident in the middle of Ha Long Bay.
Ms. Trang trembled as she walked down the aisle, flanked by coffins. The woman gently lifted each white sheet covering the body. Each time she opened it, she felt a faint hope and a look of fear as she faced the painful truth.

"I still haven't found Th. More than 18 hours after the incident, I don't think my cousin is still alive. The family hopes to find his body soon so they can bring him home for a proper funeral," Trang said, choking up.
Up to now, Ms. Trang has identified the bodies of Mr. Th.'s wife and 3-year-old daughter. Mr. Th.'s son, NM (10 years old), was fortunately saved after being trapped in the ship's hull.
Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Ms. Trang said that on the morning of July 19, Mr. Th. and his wife and two children (a 10-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl) and two families of friends traveled to Quang Ninh.
"When the incident happened, I just found out that Th.'s family went to Ha Long to visit. Before that, because they had not checked into the hotel, the group visited the museum and took a boat out to the bay. A sudden storm arose and turned the trip into a tragedy," said Ms. Trang.
Meeting NM at the emergency room of Bai Chay General Hospital, Ms. Trang tried to hold back her emotions, not daring to reveal the truth that the baby's mother and sister had passed away.

During a brief conversation at the hospital bed, Ms. Trang learned that the storm arose so quickly that the whole ship was almost caught off guard.
Passengers on the ship panicked, the captain moved against the waves, causing the cruise ship to capsize. According to NM, in the moment of life and death, Mr. Th. still tried to find life for his son. The father grabbed a life jacket, put it on his son, tried his best to push him to the upper room, then lost strength and sank into the sea.
Luckily the room was not completely flooded so NM was still able to breathe and stay alive until the rescue team found him.
“NM told me: If I can’t bear this, how can children younger than me bear it… they will probably die. There were many children on the ship that crashed. The ship swayed violently with the waves and then capsized, surrounded by a dark sky and strong winds,” Trang said, choking up.
Currently, baby NM is conscious but her face is dazed, fear in her eyes is still evident on her face as she has not yet recovered from the shock.
Occasionally, the boy looked up with sad eyes and asked Trang about the situation of his parents and younger sister. The woman could only quickly wipe away her tears and tried to keep her voice calm to encourage him: "Just wait, I'm waiting just like you."
After a while, the child spoke softly, his voice faltering: "After so long... there are probably only two situations left, uncle, one is to live, two is... to die. I think... they're all probably dead...".
Hearing those words from a child who was too young but understood, the woman felt extremely sad.
"I was silent, not knowing how to answer my child... How could I have the courage to reveal to NM that the people I love the most might never come back?" Trang recounted, trembling.
Previously, on the afternoon of July 19, the QN-7105 ship capsized during a sightseeing tour on route 2 in Ha Long Bay due to a storm. At that time, there were 48 passengers (in Cau Giay, Hanoi ) and 5 crew members on board.
At 1:40 a.m. on July 20, authorities coordinated to successfully salvage the Green Bay tourist boat and anchored the boat to find a way to get the trapped victims out. Four bodies were discovered when the boat capsized.
As of 1:40 a.m. on July 20, the number of confirmed victims in the Green Bay tourist boat capsize was 38.
