On October 8, the leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said that this agency has just proposed to allocate land at the old facilities of Ba Ria Hospital and Le Loi Hospital (now Vung Tau General Hospital) to open a second facility of the final-level specialized oncology and obstetrics hospitals.
This is a breakthrough activity, helping to improve the ability to provide medical services to the people of Ba Ria - Vung Tau and tourists, and is determined by the Ho Chi Minh City health sector to be implemented soon.

Accordingly, through a field survey and a working session with leaders of Vung Tau ward, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health noted that in the Ba Ria and Vung Tau area, there are many locations that can be added to the land use planning for the health sector.
Currently, there are two old real estate facilities of Ba Ria Hospital and Le Loi Hospital that have not been reused, after the two general hospitals above have moved to new facilities. Specifically, Ba Ria Hospital moved to the new facility since 2015, while Le Loi Hospital also moved from the beginning of 2022.
Through discussions and listening to the expectations of the authorities and people of the areas, the Department of Health determined that the use of the above two real estate facilities should be prioritized for specialized hospitals in oncology and obstetrics.
These are two specialties that for many years, the health sector of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (old) has encountered many difficulties in human resources, so it has not been able to deploy, forcing people to go to hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City for medical examination and treatment, causing a lot of inconvenience for patients and overloading the final hospitals.
Therefore, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health sent a document to the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to propose approving the policy for the final specialized hospital in obstetrics and gynecology (Tu Du Hospital or Hung Vuong Hospital) to deploy a second facility at the old Le Loi Hospital (22 Le Loi Street, Vung Tau Ward).
According to the Department of Health, Tu Du Hospital and Hung Vuong Hospital are self-financed public service units of group 1, so they will use the Hospital's Career Development Fund to implement the second facility, without using the city budget.

At the same time, propose the city leaders to approve the policy for Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital to deploy a second facility at the old Ba Ria Hospital (13 Pham Ngoc Thach Street, Ba Ria Ward).
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health affirmed that this conversion is completely appropriate when the land plots have been approved for detailed planning 1/500 in Decision No. 4316/QD-UBND dated June 10, 2025 of the People's Committee of Vung Tau City (old) and the planning project to become a hospital has been announced.
At the same time, this is in line with the orientation of the Ho Chi Minh City health sector on improving medical capacity in the old Ba Ria - Vung Tau area.
After the policy is approved, the Department of Health will coordinate with relevant departments and branches to develop a project to establish a second facility of the final specialized hospitals to submit to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for consideration and approval.
