On the afternoon of March 21, Dr. Mai Van Muoi, Director of the Department of Health of Quang Nam province, said that after more than 3 days of treatment with doctors from Cho Ray Hospital, the health of patients poisoned by eating pickled carp has improved, with only one patient requiring a ventilator.
According to Dr. Mai Van Muoi, of the three serious victims who had to be put on ventilators, two, Ho Thi T. (37 years old) and Ho Van D. (26 years old), have been taken off the ventilator and can sit up on their own. Patient Ho Van D. (57 years old) is still on the ventilator, but his vital signs are stable and he is being monitored.

Previously, as reported by SGGP, from March 7 to 16, the Northern Mountainous Region General Hospital of Quang Nam received 3 clusters of cases including 10 people, of which 1 person died. Through investigation, the above patients had the common characteristic of eating pickled carp.
The health sector has taken samples of pickled carp and sent them to Nha Trang Pasteur Institute for testing. The samples were found to be positive for Clostridium botulinum type E bacteria.
On the morning of March 18, the Northern Mountainous Region General Hospital of Quang Nam connected to an online consultation with doctors from Cho Ray Hospital. The leadership of Cho Ray Hospital decided to send leading experts in anti-poisoning and resuscitation to directly bring 5 vials of Botulinum antitoxin (a very precious and rare drug worth about 6,000 USD/vial) to the Northern Mountainous Region General Hospital of Quang Nam to support the patient's treatment that same afternoon.
