According to the Khanh Hoa Department of Foreign Affairs, the deceased female victim, Ms. D.TVA (residing in Cam Hoa commune, Cam Lam district, Khanh Hoa province), was granted a permanent resident card and lived in Canada but her nationality was Vietnamese. Ms. A's husband and 7-year-old daughter both had Canadian nationality.
All three returned to Vietnam to visit their families in Cam Hoa commune. On the afternoon of March 3, 2023, the whole family rode a motorbike to Nha Trang city, when they reached Vo Nguyen Giap street, they were hit by a Mercedes . After the accident, the husband suffered a broken leg, and Mrs. A. died on March 5.
The husband then filed an application for support and citizen protection because his daughter's visa would expire on March 11, 2023. His leg is in a cast and he cannot move around to complete the procedures to extend his daughter's visa. He and his daughter are expected to stay in Vietnam for a long time to receive treatment and resolve related issues.

Mrs. VA's husband needs help
On the morning of March 10, leaders of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Traffic Safety Committee of Khanh Hoa province went to Khanh Hoa General Hospital to visit and encourage Mrs. VA's husband and children. The department's leaders said they had contacted the Canadian Consulate General and the Immigration Department to support the husband. On the same morning, the Canadian Consulate General called him directly, informing him to make a diplomatic note to the Department of Foreign Affairs to support visa extension according to regulations.
However, due to his unstable mental state, the man refused to receive visitors. According to his roommates, his family often brought their daughter to visit him. He cried a lot in the past few days.
According to hospital staff, on the afternoon of March 9, many family members of the Mercedes driver came to meet the husband to talk.

Leaders of the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Traffic Safety Committee of Khanh Hoa province were present at Khanh Hoa General Hospital to support the Canadian husband, but he did not contact them.
Regarding this incident, Vietcombank Khanh Hoa branch also informed that the unit has not received any official information from the authorities.
Mr. Ngo Duy Binh, Head of Dien Khanh Transaction Office of Vietcombank - Khanh Hoa branch, who is suspected to be involved in the accident, requested leave from March 1 to 3. Currently, Mr. Binh also requested to suspend his contract for 3 months from March 6 to June 6.
As reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Dien Khanh District Police have announced a search for the Mercedes driver involved in the accident that caused the death of Ms. VA's family.



The Mercedes is suspected to be the vehicle that caused the accident that killed the woman and then fled the scene.
Through the vehicle registration system, it was initially determined that the Mercedes suspected in the accident belonged to Mr. Ngo Duy Binh.
Dien Khanh district police have temporarily detained the suspected Mercedes for examination and invited the driver to come in for questioning.
