A pillar of support for fishermen and marine businesses.
Protecting sovereignty is always linked to protecting maritime economic activities. In the area of the DK1 platform and other oil and gas facilities, regional forces maintain a constant presence, ensuring security and safety for exploration and production activities.
Soldiers on duty at the DK1 platform persevere in harsh weather conditions, contributing to maintaining sovereignty and security in the southern continental shelf waters.
The Party Committee and the Regional Command have identified search and rescue as a peacetime mission. Forces and equipment are maintained in a state of high mobility, ready to depart when a situation arises. Amidst rough seas, the appearance of naval vessels not only signifies rescue but also serves as a source of moral support for fishermen venturing out to sea and maintaining their livelihoods.
Simultaneously, units intensified propaganda and guidance for fishermen to exploit marine resources in accordance with regulations; promptly prevented fishing vessels from encroaching on foreign waters; coordinated efforts in combating, negotiating, and assisting in the rescue of many fishing vessels and fishermen detained by foreign authorities. Thousands of fishing vessels were reminded and prevented from doing so early, contributing to the nationwide effort to lift the European Commission's "yellow card" warning regarding marine resource exploitation.
During their recent visit to extend New Year greetings to the officers and soldiers of Brigade 167 (Naval Region 2, in Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City) for the Year of the Horse 2026, the Ca Mau provincial delegation directly visited Ship 378, learning about the procedures for watchkeeping, technical support, and logistics for long voyages.
Comrade Lam Van Bi, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, expressed his emotion upon witnessing the officers and soldiers maintaining their readiness for combat during the Tet holiday.
"Even amidst the spring reunion, the comrades remain steadfast in their duties, all dedicated to protecting the safety of the assigned maritime region. This is not only a responsibility but also a deep affection for the people and the locality."
The comrade affirmed that Ca Mau always appreciates the close cooperation of the forces performing duties in the area. The province will continue to support and create favorable conditions for the unit to excellently complete its tasks, contributing to maintaining sovereignty and ensuring a stable environment for sustainable marine economic development in the future.
Over the past 17 years, the 2nd Naval Region has gradually affirmed its pivotal role in the southern sea region. From training and combat readiness to search and rescue operations, supporting fishermen, and ensuring security for economic infrastructure, each task has been carried out with the highest sense of responsibility.
At the forefront of the waves, amidst the vast expanse of the sea, ships flying the national flag remain steadfastly present. They are not only law enforcement forces at sea but also "living landmarks" safeguarding sacred sovereignty and a peaceful, stable environment for the sustainable development of the country.
