Attending the ceremony were Mr. Le Hong Son - Head of Conservation and International Cooperation Department, Con Dao National Park Management Board; Staff of Conservation and International Cooperation Department, Head of Bay Canh Forest Ranger Station and 14 volunteers participating in the first phase of sea turtle conservation in 2023.
Accordingly, volunteers must comply with the regulations on biodiversity conservation, working and living regulations; perform biodiversity conservation and environmental protection tasks according to the instructions of Forestry officers at the workplace and officers of the Conservation and International Cooperation Department, ensure safety of people and property; and take care of their own daily life and activities.
In addition, the volunteers contributed a total of 140 working days; joined the Forest Rangers in monitoring and safely relocating 132 nests with 13,224 eggs; released 1,307 baby turtles into the sea; leveled the turtle egg-laying grounds; supported the renovation, replacement, and reinforcement of the turtle egg incubation fence, cleaned the turtle egg incubation pond and the nests after hatching, supported the Forest Rangers in monitoring the nests that were about to hatch and split bamboo poles to record data. Guided and introduced the work of sea turtle rescue and natural resource protection to 625 visitors to release baby turtles into the sea and watch the turtles lay eggs; joined the Forest Rangers in 10 patrols; increased production, cleaned up the gardens. Cleaned, collected, and treated about 12 m3 of garbage at the station and the beach. Recycled and used some materials from waste to make propaganda boards about environmental protection and sea turtle conservation.
At the closing ceremony, the volunteers were awarded Certificates, and the Department of Conservation and International Cooperation also recorded the volunteers' comments on sea turtle conservation and biodiversity in Con Dao National Park. After this program, the articles and short reports of the volunteers will contribute to spreading the love of nature and raising awareness of sea turtle conservation to everyone.
