Le Van Chien was born in a poor rural area of Thanh Chuong district, Nghe An province. He lived with his paternal grandparents from the age of six months because his parents divorced and left without a trace. Over time, his grandparents passed away, leaving their grandson orphaned. Overcoming the hardships of life, Chien worked hard to support himself while also striving to study. Throughout high school, he was an outstanding student. Notably, in his senior year at Dang Thuc Hua High School (Thanh Chuong, Nghe An), his average grade in all subjects reached 8.5.

Chiến also won third prize in Geography in the provincial-level excellent student competition and had the honor of joining the Party while still in high school. In the 2021 entrance exam, Chiến scored 27.5 points in the C00 subject group, the highest score in the C group at Dang Thuc Hua High School, and applied to the Political Officer School, but the admission score that year was 28.5 points.

Private First Class Le Van Chien has always been conscious of the need for self-study and self-improvement.

Driven by a burning desire to serve in the Army for a long time, Chien volunteered to join. In February 2022, Chien enlisted and underwent basic training at Training Center 334, General Staff of the General Department of Engineering. After completing his training, Chien was transferred to Warehouse K860. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thanh Binh, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of Warehouse K860, said: "Since joining the unit, Chien has always strictly adhered to military discipline and unit regulations, successfully completing all assigned tasks. Upon learning of Chien's circumstances and his desire to enroll in the Political Officer School, the unit provided all necessary support to help him fulfill his duties as a soldier and focus on his studies."

Lacking the opportunity to attend exam preparation centers, Chien was determined to self-study by asking his colleagues in the unit to download practice exam papers from the internet and print them out for him to study on his own. In addition, his unit commander contacted a local literature teacher to help and tutor him. In the 2023 university entrance exam, Chien registered as a private candidate to obtain a score for university admission at the Minh Khai High School exam center (Quoc Oai, Hanoi ). As a result, Chien achieved 28.75 points; the cutoff score for the Political Officer School in 2023 was 27.62 points.

As we parted ways, Chien shared: "Passing the entrance exam to the Political Officer School is just the beginning; everything is still ahead. I will continue to strive to study hard and train diligently to achieve my life's goals and to live up to the expectations of those who have extended their helping hands to me." Hopefully, with his abilities and unwavering determination, in the not-too-distant future, Private First Class Le Van Chien will become an exemplary political officer in the Army.
