Ninh Phuoc Commune urgently evacuated hundreds of households from vulnerable and locally flooded areas.

On the morning of November 20, Mr. Quang Thuc Doan - Chairman of Ninh Phuoc Commune People's Committee said that from the afternoon of November 19 to the morning of November 20, due to prolonged heavy rain and floodwaters, the locality mobilized forces and means to urgently support people in vulnerable and locally flooded areas to evacuate to safety.

The Commune People's Committee has provided additional life jackets, life buoys, ropes, and flashlights to the villages; and mobilized local vehicles including 4 tractors, 4 trucks, and 2 boats to evacuate households in Phuoc Loi village, along with their assets and livestock, to a safe place. By 2 a.m. on November 20, the entire commune had evacuated 488 households, with 2,287 people, out of vulnerable, partially flooded areas. Households have proactively moved their assets and livestock, including 216 cows, 2,463 goats, sheep, and more than 16,500 poultry, to higher ground.

There were no casualties in the commune; 3 sections of the Lu River bank were eroded and some village roads (about 200m) and intra-field roads (about 2,400m) were damaged; about 434 hectares of rice, 482 hectares of various crops, 98 hectares of grapes, and 296 hectares of apples were flooded. The vulnerable and locally flooded areas include: Village 1, Village 3, Village 5, Village 6, Bau Truc Village, Village 12, Village 13, Village 14, My Nghiep Village, Phuoc Khanh Village, Van Phuoc Village, Thanh Tin Village, and Tu Tam 1 Village; Thuan Loi Village was flooded, cutting off the spillway to Thuan Hoa Village; Phuoc Loi Village was flooded over 2/3 of the entire village area.

The evacuation of people was carried out urgently from the afternoon of November 19 to the morning of November 20.

Currently, in Ninh Phuoc commune, there are still some areas that are partially isolated. The locality continues to mobilize and support households in vulnerable and partially flooded areas to move to safety; continue to be on duty 24/7, monitoring weather developments and the flood discharge situation of reservoirs to proactively respond promptly.

Ninh Phuoc Commune People's Committee proposed the province to support 1 canoe and 5 boats to proactively respond; promptly reinforce 3 eroded sections of Lu River bank to ensure safety.
