Comrade Dinh Cong Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Xuan Luong commune, visits the green tea growing area in Ven village. |
Located on National Highway 17, about 45 km from Bac Giang ward and about 85 km from Hanoi, Ven village (Xuan Luong commune) has many advantages for developing community-based tourism associated with local ecology and culture.
From the center of the commune, visitors can easily access tourist attractions and historical-cultural relics such as: Xuan Lung communal house and pagoda, ancient well, Nga waterfall, Ngac Hai lake, ancient green lim tree… Each destination carries its own stories and values, contributing to a diverse and attractive tourism space.
In particular, Ven village has long been famous as a high-quality tea-producing area of the Cao Lan ethnic minority. The lush green tea hills, gently undulating like inverted bowls, are not only the main source of income for the locals but also attract many tourists who come to visit, take photos, and experience the local culture.
Visiting Ven village, tourists have the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature and participate in many engaging and emotionally enriching activities such as: camping amidst bamboo forests; visiting ecological farms; playing and taking photos with domestic animals such as sheep, rabbits, deer, and goats; and enjoying local specialties.

The village of Ven currently has about 150 households, of which over 90% are Cao Lan ethnic people. The villagers still preserve quite intact their traditional stilt houses, customs, and cultural values passed down through many generations. The Cao Lan people in Ven village have long been famous for Sinh Ca – a unique and humane form of folk music.
During the period 2026-2030, Xuan Luong commune aims to fully exploit the potential of its natural tourism and the unique cultural identity of the ethnic groups in the area; develop eco-tourism, agricultural experience tourism, and community-based cultural tourism associated with traditional villages. Simultaneously, it will focus on building unique and distinctive tourism products; strengthen connections with tourist destinations in the province and region; prioritize the development of homestay accommodations linked to local culture; and upgrade infrastructure and provide professional service training for the local community involved in tourism. |
Traditional cuisine is also an unforgettable highlight when visiting Xuan Luong. Amidst the mountainous landscape, visitors can enjoy meals prepared by local people, featuring many signature dishes such as: Cao Lan five-colored sticky rice, ant egg sticky rice, smoked pork, sausage, bitter bamboo shoots, stream snails, roasted pork with mac mat leaves… The dishes are presented on trays or baskets, both rustic and familiar, yet rich in cultural identity, leaving a lasting impression on visitors.
Leverage your advantages to achieve a breakthrough.
Leveraging its existing potential and advantages, the People's Committee of Yen The District (formerly) registered the Ven Village eco-cultural tourism product for the OCOP (One Commune One Product) evaluation and ranking. In 2022, the Ven Village eco-cultural tourism product was recognized as a 3-star OCOP product, becoming the first product in the community tourism group and tourist destination to receive a star rating in the former Bac Giang province. This is considered a significant milestone in upgrading Xuan Luong tourism, creating a foundation for the locality to continue attracting investment, improving the product, and expanding its tourist market.
Mr. Nguyen Duy Dung, residing in Thanh Tri commune (Hanoi city), said: “Although I have been to Bac Ninh many times, this is the first time my family and I have explored, experienced the services, and enjoyed the cuisine in Ven village. I am truly impressed with the natural scenery and the distinctive dishes of the Cao Lan people. If I have the opportunity, I will definitely return.”
To "awaken" its tourism potential, in recent years, Xuan Luong commune has focused on investing in comprehensive infrastructure, especially connecting transportation infrastructure and accommodation facilities. Currently, the main road leading to tourist destinations in the area has been concreted; the entire commune has 3 accommodation facilities following the community tourism model, meeting the needs of tourists.

In order to continue effectively exploiting its potential and advantages, during the period 2026-2030, Xuan Luong commune has identified the following priorities: fully exploiting the potential of natural tourism and the distinctive cultural identity of the ethnic groups in the area; developing eco-tourism, agricultural experience tourism, and community-based cultural tourism associated with traditional villages.
At the same time, focus on developing distinctive and unique tourism products; strengthen connections with tourist destinations in the province and the region; prioritize the development of homestay accommodation services associated with local culture; upgrade infrastructure and provide professional service skills training for local communities involved in tourism.
