Forces continue to reinforce weak dike sections.
According to preliminary statistics, the natural disaster did not cause major damage to people and property, but severely affected production and infrastructure: 132 hectares of rice, 54 hectares of crops, 30 hectares of fruit trees and 41 hectares of aquatic products were flooded; more than 2,600m of dikes, 22,700m of intra-field roads, 10,050m of rural roads were flooded, 2 relics were flooded. In particular, 109 households had their houses flooded, 315 households had their alleys flooded, 3 irrigation works were damaged, the Bui 2 dike section had landslides in 2 locations about 15m long and one landslide was 17m long.
Faced with this situation, the Party Committee and People's Committee of the commune promptly issued many directive documents and synchronously deployed response measures. The commune mobilized 650 people, including shock troops, soldiers and civilians, along with 17 vehicles, 17,000 sacks, and 1,300m³ of sand to reinforce and prevent the dike from overflowing. The forces promptly handled the first 3 landslide points.
Leaders of Xuan Mai commune were on duty with cadres and people of low-lying villages, promptly directing tasks.
On the night of August 30, leaders of the Party Committee and the authorities of Xuan Mai commune inspected the field and were on duty at low-lying villages, directly directing the evacuation and relocation of people to safe high ground according to the plan. In the afternoon and evening of August 30, 40 households with 179 people in areas at risk of deep flooding were evacuated to safe places. The 24/7 on-duty work was strictly maintained.
In the coming time, Xuan Mai commune will continue to update weather developments, increase propaganda to raise people's awareness of flood prevention and control, not be subjective and negligent, ensure environmental sanitation and safety of people's lives and property.
