U23 Vietnam defeated U23 Philippines with a close score.
Despite only winning 1-0 against U23 Philippines in the final match of the group stage, U23 Vietnam still entered the semi-finals of the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship as the top team in Group C. After two matches, coach Hoang Anh Tuan's team still struggled in implementing tactical tactics to control the ball and proactively attack.
In addition, despite dominating two opponents considered weaker, U23 Vietnam still had many difficulties in scoring goals, revealing a lack of coordination in defense. Experts commented that U23 Vietnam still did not use all its strength and the best lineup in this tournament.

In the remaining semi-final, host Thailand will face "rival" Indonesia. In this tournament, U23 Thailand is considered the leading candidate for the championship with a series of 3 clean sheet victories, while U23 Indonesia showed inexperience in both tactics and experience and lost the right to decide in the competition for a ticket to the semi-finals.
The match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Malaysia will take place at 4:00 p.m. on August 24, while U23 Thailand will compete with U23 Indonesia at 8:00 p.m. the same day.
