Building a model cultural village

In early 2023, Thu Ich village (Lien Chau commune, Yen Lac district) was one of 30 villages and residential groups in Vinh Phuc province selected to pilot the construction of a "Model Cultural Village". When it first started construction, Thu Ich faced many difficulties as there was no model to learn from. At that time, the Lien Chau commune Party Committee issued a separate Resolution on the construction of a "Model Cultural Village" with the most important goal of removing barriers in people's awareness.

With the motto of steady rain, the Front Working Committee has coordinated with mass organizations to go to every alley, knock on every door to propagate and mobilize people to agree and support the contents and criteria of building a "Model Cultural Village". Through propaganda and mobilization, more than 5,000m2 of land has been donated by people to build and renovate infrastructure. People in the village also contributed over 3.3 billion VND and working days to complete the criteria of a "Model Cultural Village", renovate village roads and alleys, plant trees, paint murals, and build bright, green, clean, and beautiful model roads.

In September 2023, Thu Ich village was the first locality in Vinh Phuc province to inaugurate the "Model Cultural Village" cultural and sports facility area with a total area of 15,000 m2. Of which, the newly built cultural house has an area of over 600 m2, equipped with sound and lighting equipment. More than 4,500 m2 were converted into a regulating lake, planted with lotus and water lilies to ensure landscape and environmental sanitation. In addition, the outdoor sports equipment system was installed synchronously, 2 artificial football fields, 2 volleyball courts combined with badminton courts of the people were renovated and renovated to meet the needs of culture, arts, physical education and sports and organize major local events.

Not only improving spiritual life, the construction of the "Model Cultural Village" in Thu Ich also promotes economic development and increases people's income. The policy of supporting loans without mortgage has opened up new opportunities for people to expand production and business development. Up to now, in the area, the high-tech intensive fish farming model has been applied on an area of 20 hectares. In addition, 5 hectares of Buddha's hand tree planting model and 40 hectares of organic rice planting have helped many households become rich on their homeland's fields.

With the view that all rural areas benefit from development, together with Thu Ich, the localities selected to pilot the construction of "Model Cultural Villages" are making efforts every day to focus on synchronous and comprehensive development of contents and criteria. Mr. Nguyen Tuan Khanh - Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Vinh Phuc province said that the initial successes in building "Model Cultural Villages" have affirmed the correctness and satisfaction of the people of this policy. After 1 year of implementation, with the consensus and response of the people, over 35 billion VND has been contributed along with tens of thousands of square meters of land donated to build cultural and sports facilities and roads, build infrastructure, environmental sanitation, etc.

Vinh Phuc province aims to have 30 villages meeting the criteria of a “Model Cultural Village” by the end of 2025 and 60 villages meeting the criteria by 2027. This is considered an important lever to promote the potential and strengths of the locality, attract resources to serve socio-economic development, improve and enhance the material and spiritual life of the people so that each village truly becomes a livable countryside.
