Vo Thanh Huy, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, recently chaired a working session with a delegation from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration on the current situation and solutions for building a cultural environment in the Mui Ne National Tourist Area.
The Mui Ne National Tourist Area was established by Decision No. 1772/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister dated December 18, 2018. The Mui Ne National Tourist Area is oriented towards development according to approved planning projects such as: the detailed planning of the Phan Thiet - Mui Ne tourist cluster; the tourism development plan of Binh Thuan province; the overall development plan of the Mui Ne National Tourist Area until 2025, with a vision to 2030; and the sub-area plans of Phu Hai, Mui Ne, Hoa Thang - Hoa Phu areas…
Mui Ne National Tourist Area possesses 16 tangible cultural resources, including 3 national-level historical sites and scenic spots (Nguyen Thong's tomb, Po Sah Inu Tower, Bau Trang); 4 provincial-level historical sites and scenic spots (Suoi Tien, Khanh Thien village communal house historical and cultural site, Thach Long historical and cultural site, Mui Ne Sand Dunes); and 9 unclassified religious sites (Phu Binh communal house, Buu Son Pagoda, Tu Bang Pagoda, Khanh An Pagoda, Hai Quang Pagoda, Binh An communal house, Linh Lang Pagoda, Giac Hai Pagoda, Thien Khanh village communal house). In addition to the 7 national and provincial-level classified tangible cultural resources, the locality has added 7 intangible cultural resources to serve tourism in Mui Ne National Tourist Area: the Ka-te Festival at Po Sah Inu Tower; the Spring and Autumn Sacrificial Ceremonies at village communal houses; and the Fishing Festival at the shrines and communal houses. Traditional boat rowing performances are held at the mausoleums and villages; Buddha's Birthday and Vu Lan festivals are celebrated at the temples. Currently, the general plan for the Mui Ne National Tourist Area has been completed and is being reviewed by ministries and agencies before being submitted to the Prime Minister for approval…
Representatives from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration also proposed incorporating a set of criteria for cultural environment in national tourist areas, comprising five basic groups; suggested decentralizing management in the establishment of National Tourist Area Management Boards; and discussed the current situation and solutions for building a cultural environment in the Mui Ne National Tourist Area. The Vietnam National Tourism Administration also requested further input from the Binh Thuan tourism sector on the set of criteria for cultural environment in national tourist areas for submission to competent authorities for promulgation in the near future.
The delegation from the Vietnam National Tourism Administration was also guided on a tour and field survey at the Ham Tien - Mui Ne Tourist Area Management Board and the Bau Trang Tourist Area Management Board; they visited and experienced some of the tourism services currently operating in the Bau Trang scenic area, and enjoyed local specialties and cuisine in the Ham Tien - Mui Ne Tourist Area…
