Building and developing Ca Mau people with rich identity and sustainable integration

The people of Ca Mau are gentle and simple.

Upon arriving in Ca Mau, one can almost sense the gentle and honest nature of its people, who value each other for their kindness and loyalty. Perhaps the harsh natural conditions have forged and shaped the people of Ca Mau into resilient, hardworking individuals who live in harmony and affection with one another.

It must be said that the people here are hardworking and diligent, unafraid of hardship in labor and production. Their genuine and natural affection seems to have been ingrained in the character of the people of Ca Mau from ancient times to the present day.

It's no coincidence that musician Thanh Son (from Soc Trang province) wholeheartedly praised the people of Ca Mau through the heartfelt lyrics, "The people of Ca Mau are incredibly lovely" (in "New Clothes of Ca Mau"). The loveliness and warmth of the people of Ca Mau have now become a brand, affirming that Ca Mau is not only a simple, rustic land but also incredibly friendly and hospitable.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council of Ca Mau, affirmed that cultural development is one of the key issues and a prominent content in the Party's 13th National Congress documents. Based on this, the Provincial Party Secretary requested timely rectification of the exploitation of beliefs and religions, the practice of superstition, and the disruption of security and order; and the fight against harmful cultural products, negative and opportunistic behaviors, violations of the law, the dissemination of erroneous ideologies, and pragmatic lifestyles.

"Focus on building the Party and the political system in terms of culture and ethics; resolutely fight against corruption and negative phenomena; build a culture in leadership and management; promote the exemplary role and ethical standards of cadres, Party members, civil servants, and public employees, to create a ripple effect throughout society," the Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee emphasized.

Experts believe that Ca Mau has enormous cultural potential, but its full value has not yet been exploited. Therefore, a new approach and new methods are needed to showcase its cultural identity in the digital age.

Meeting the requirements of sustainable development

The Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee issued Action Program No. 07-CTr/TU, specifying and implementing Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW. Accordingly, the tasks and solutions for building culture in conjunction with building the government and the economy have been implemented quite synchronously and closely, leveraging the combined strength to build an advanced Vietnamese culture rich in national identity; building people oriented towards the values ​​of "truth, goodness, and beauty," compassion, and loyalty, contributing to enriching the material and spiritual lives of the people in the province.

Over the past 10 years of implementing Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam on building Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable national development, the economic, cultural, and social situation of Ca Mau province has continued to develop. Many patriotic emulation movements have yielded quite comprehensive results, contributing to the success of National Target Programs for building new rural areas, civilized urban areas, and sustainable poverty reduction.

Ca Mau province has done well in incorporating regulations on building cultured individuals and families into the customs and conventions of residential areas, paying attention to educating about family and clan traditions; and fostering neighborly relations... As a result, many exemplary individuals have emerged in patriotic emulation movements for excellence in production and business.

Mr. Tieu Minh Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province, shared that since Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW came into effect, the department has focused on improving the quality of training and fostering the pioneering role of cultural workers, and developing mass cultural movements at the grassroots level. In addition, the province has strived to diversify cultural and tourism products, making good use of the local potential and advantages such as the sea, islands, forests, festivals, and community activities.

In particular, investment resources for cultural activities have gradually increased year by year, contributing to the implementation of the new rural development movement, civilized urban development, and sustainable poverty reduction. Along with improving the quality and effectiveness of cultural activities, localities and units have done a good job of disseminating information, refuting false narratives, and promptly preventing and repelling the infiltration and negative impact of harmful cultural products.

Enhance the awareness and capacity of cadres, Party members, and the people to recognize and eliminate the infiltration and negative impact of harmful cultural products; focus on building a healthy cultural environment and developing the people of Ca Mau to be comprehensively developed, sustainably integrated, and rich in identity.

Mr. Ho Trung Viet, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, said that Ca Mau is a land with its own unique cultural identity, a newly settled land but a place of "sacred land and outstanding people".

Based on the Party's resolutions, Ca Mau province has transformed these into changes in awareness, actions, and practical results. The work of building and developing Ca Mau's culture and people has always been emphasized and improved. The task of building a healthy cultural environment in all areas of social life is regularly given attention. The leadership capacity of Party committees at all levels and the effectiveness of state management in the field of culture and arts have improved.

In particular, the view that "culture must be placed on par with economics, politics, and society" has been more fully understood and embraced. The people have truly become the subjects of culture, actively participating in implementing a civilized lifestyle and a healthy cultural environment.

From his perspective, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Van Linh, Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council and Head of the Central Theoretical Council's working group, shared that the culture, society, and people of Ca Mau are valuable and abundant resources, fully capable of becoming a direct and effective contributor to the local development.

“Ca Mau needs to correctly identify existing problems and promptly address them in order to build and develop its culture, society, and people in a way that is integrated yet sustainable, rich in identity, and forms good standards and values. From there, it will bring about genuine, substantial, and comprehensive benefits to the lives of the people,” suggested Associate Professor Dr. Pham Van Linh.
