Building energy saving awareness for students

In Son La province, the program “Propaganda and dissemination of knowledge on energy saving and efficiency” in schools has been implemented, creating a change in students’ awareness and actions right from when they are still in school.

Propaganda on energy saving and efficiency for students of Moc Ly Secondary School, Moc Son Ward.

Since the beginning of the year, the Provincial Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion has coordinated with Son La Electricity Company, communes, wards and schools to organize the program "Propaganda and dissemination of knowledge on economical and efficient use of energy" at 5 schools, including: Moc Ly Secondary School, Moc Son Ward; Bac Yen Town Primary and Secondary School, Bac Yen Commune; Chu Van An Secondary School, Thuan Chau Commune; Chieng So Secondary School, Chieng So Commune, with 3,540 cadres, teachers and students participating.

Students of Yen Chau Primary School participate in the program "Propaganda and dissemination of knowledge on economical and efficient use of energy".

Activities took place enthusiastically at schools. Participating in the program, students were able to access knowledge through vivid forms such as interactive games, dramatization, the “Ring the Golden Bell” contest, painting contests, assembling energy-saving devices, answering situational questions, etc.

The program content is designed to suit each grade level. Primary school students are exposed to familiar, easy-to-understand, and easy-to-practice situations. Secondary school students are able to integrate theoretical and practical knowledge in highly creative competitions. Slogans such as “Turn off when not in use - save a lot”, “Use LED lights - consume less electricity”, “Save today - sustainable tomorrow” are present in all schools, creating a strong and memorable impression.

Mr. Dao Van Quang, Deputy Director of the Provincial Center for Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion, emphasized: The Center innovates content and organization methods to suit the psychology of students. The program not only raises students' awareness of using electricity economically but also helps form the habit of protecting resources and the environment right from when they are still in school.

Many parents are surprised and delighted when their children become “electricity supervisors” at home. They proactively remind adults to turn off the lights when leaving the room, not to turn on the air conditioner when not necessary, to take advantage of natural light, and to unplug electrical appliances when not in use.

Students from schools participated in games at the program "Propaganda and dissemination of knowledge on using energy economically and efficiently".

Sharing about the change in behavior after participating in the program, Vu Ngoc Hoang Minh, class 6A1, Moc Ly Secondary School, Moc Son Ward, shared: Before, I often forgot to turn off the lights when leaving the room. Now I am used to turning off unnecessary devices, opening windows to get light when studying and reminding my family to use electricity economically and effectively.

In addition to the propaganda part, the program also distributed documents including leaflets on safe and economical use of electricity and the Energy Saving Handbook. These are useful documents that help children easily remember and apply knowledge in practice.

In many schools, the content of energy saving has been integrated into subjects such as Physics, Technology, Civic Education , etc. and included in the comprehensive education plan. The "Green Classroom" model has been implemented synchronously: Each class develops electricity saving regulations, students on duty are responsible for checking and turning off equipment after school hours, and using air conditioning appropriately according to regulations.

Teacher Nguyen Duy Cuong, Principal of Moc Ly Secondary School, Moc Son Ward, said: From small things like replacing incandescent bulbs with LED lights, assigning separate switches to each room, to students voluntarily turning off fans and lights... all contribute to forming good habits. The most important thing is that students really understand and voluntarily do it, not forced.

Distribute leaflets to disseminate knowledge about energy saving and efficiency to students of Bac Yen Primary and Secondary School.

In addition to the direct propaganda, the program also organized leaflets on safe and economical use of electricity and an Energy Saving Handbook with a hand-held plastic fan printed with tips on safe and efficient use of electricity. The handbook is presented vividly, easy to understand, suitable for both students and parents, providing saving solutions when using devices such as air conditioners, televisions, refrigerators, induction cookers, etc. In addition, the Center also cooperated with Son La Electricity Company to develop a set of teaching materials, guiding teachers to implement electricity saving content in class, class activities and Team activities. One of the focused content is educating on how to recognize and choose energy-labeled equipment, helping students and parents get into the habit of using energy-saving products - both reducing living expenses and contributing to environmental protection.

The propaganda and education of students on how to use energy economically and effectively in Son La has been actively implemented with many creative and flexible methods. The program has contributed to forming habits for students, contributing to building a civilized, responsible and sustainable lifestyle for the young generation with the community.
