In addition to FIFA's sharing, the Asian Football Confederation also sent a letter of condolences to the VFF and the player's family. President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa wrote: " I am extremely saddened and shocked to receive information about the tragic traffic accident involving the Quang Nam Youth Football Team, when the team was on their way back after a match in the Vietnam Second Division Football Championship.
The saddest thing is that player Vo Minh Hieu is no longer with us. I would like to send my deepest condolences to Vo Minh Hieu’s family, relatives and friends. I hope all the injured will recover soon .”
The incident occurred on May 25 when the Quang Nam Youth team returned from a 5-0 victory over Gama Vinh Phuc Club in the first leg of the National Second Division. The match was held at Kon Tum Provincial Stadium. The vehicle had a technical problem and an accident occurred at Vi O Lac Pass, in Ba To District, Quang Ngai Province. The incident resulted in the death of player Vo Minh Hieu, in addition to two players Luong Quang Huy, Nguyen Phi Hung and a fan who were seriously injured and had to be rushed to the hospital.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Vietnam Football Federation sent a letter of condolences. VFF gave 50 million VND to support the family of player Vo Minh Hieu; visited and gave money to two players Luong Quang Huy, Nguyen Phi Hung and accompanying fans who are being treated at the hospital.
