Passenger bus carrying 24 pilgrims collides with truck, many hospitalized

On the pilgrimage route, a tourist bus carrying 24 people from Ho Chi Minh City to Bao Loc collided with a truck, sending many people to the hospital in critical condition.

On May 12, Cho Ray Hospital said it had received many patients who had accidents in Dong Nai province on their way to a pilgrimage.

Earlier, at around 3am on May 11, a tourist bus carrying about 24 people from Binh Thanh (HCMC) went on a pilgrimage to Bao Loc (Lam Dong province), but when passing through Dong Nai, it collided with a truck that was stopped in front.

After the collision, 4 people on the pilgrimage bus suffered multiple injuries and were taken to Dinh Quan Regional General Hospital for emergency treatment. All 4 patients were then transferred to Cho Ray Hospital.

Specifically, patient VTQM (47 years old, residing in District 7) was hospitalized with a head injury and a broken left cheekbone.

Patient Đ.TNQ (60 years old, residing in Hoc Mon district) suffered head and facial trauma and was monitored for subdural hematoma. Both patients are currently being treated in the department of traumatic brain injury.

The third patient is LTM (56 years old, in Hoc Mon district) who is being treated at the orthopedic trauma department in a state of severe multiple injuries.

Doctor Tran Phuoc Binh - Department of Orthopedics and Trauma, Cho Ray Hospital - said that patient LTM suffered multiple severe injuries, a broken femur, and a completely severed lower leg.

The wound peeled off the entire skin of the right forearm, the wound on the left forearm. The patient was admitted to the emergency room and received intravenous fluids, blood, and antibiotics early. After a multidisciplinary consultation, the patient was scheduled for emergency surgery within 1 hour of admission.

Currently after 24 hours the patient is awake, has good contact, can eat and drink, still has pain, the wound is relatively good, and is being cared for.

The fourth patient is LTE (62 years old, Hoc Mon district) who is being treated in the vascular surgery department with a diagnosis of right tibial fracture, right talus fracture, right calcaneus fracture, and right posterior tibial artery occlusion.

Currently the patient is stable, needs further monitoring, the risk of infection due to open fracture still exists, needs to coordinate with specialists for treatment.

Currently, all 4 patients are still being actively monitored and treated by doctors.
